Two hours on a call. Ten pages of notes.
Context first, because it’s important , I’m not new to online business… Since April 2023 I’ve generated over $250,000 US, one mini-project at a time. I know how to run a business. I help other people figure out theirs. And I still could not see my own community clearly. I knew there was something missing, I could even pinpoint what leaks I wanted to fix. I couldn’t figure out how. (Before April 2023 for 8 years I generated about $20K on average if that, so no I’m not an overnight success, I’m slow burn learner, but when I get something I run with it) But I digress, what happens when you’re inside the thing, you get blinders. And it isn’t that you don’t know. (That could be too actually) It’s that you have never once stood outside your own business and looked back at it from a very different perspective. We all are way too close to our business. I came off Skool Games at $10K MRR. It settled at about $7,500 including annuals, so roughly $4,500 a month recurring with the rest already collected up front. Solid numbers. But I knew there was a leak in how people move from free to premium, because while 99 people joined premium , I have 4500 members and I could not find on my own, how to structure onboarding and day to day so that they see opportunities to upgrade throughout without me shouting it. So on July 20th I booked a 1:1 with Brenda. (YES she offers them still - run don’t walk and book it) Not because I want her business model. I don’t want summits and bundles every other month. I do summits twice a year and that is plenty for me. I wanted her to see my community from her expert sharp eyes. Because the way she moves people from free to premium to VIP is the smoothest I have ever seen. Gentle and firm at the same time. Easter eggs tucked into every corner so people upgrade because they want to, not because she is standing there pitching at them every single week. Two hours later I had ten pages of action items. Not scribbles. Real do-this-next items. I have implemented maybe one page of the ten.

@Brenda Rigney truth I speak!
I switched my community to paid. 🤑 What I’m learning!
So about a week ago, I went from a Freemium watercolor painting community to making my standard tier $7. I know one week is a short time, but what I’ve learned so far is interesting: 1. My healthy stream of free members is now at a standstill. But I did expect that. 2. Growth Boost picked me up and folks started seeing me in ads within hours of making my community paid. TY those of you who sent me messages about this! 🙏 3. There was some website, IG, YouTube, Pinterest, and post copy to change/shift to reflect the 7 day free trial rather than free entry to the group. 4. I have a brand new YouTube video on my channel that talks about my free group (maybe before I made the group paid) and I’ll probably have to hide it for a while… 5. I’m focusing the energy I was using to welcome new members, on free members who may not know what premium or VIP can do for them. Right now, paid seems harder because - Despite some major growth boost ads, no $7 sales yet. - I feel like I’m speaking to 4 separate groups now instead of 3, and there were some significant changes to make not only in my copy, but in my positioning. I know it’s only been a week, but I’m really missing Freemium. Especially after listening to @Brenda Rigney’s new YouTube video on why her free groups are making more than her paid ones. Thankfully, this was just an experiment and I can change it back to Freemium anytime. Brenda, or some of you with paid groups, maybe you have some tips? 😊 Should I it more time? Or call it quits?

I miss freemium. I know im at the right space in ny business to be doing what I am doing to validate my offers...and also...freemium felt so easy. I got to bypass that entry sale 😆 im finding i migh need a funnel now where my freemium was like a lead magnet. Thanks for sharing Chris...excited to har your outcome! I am also running ads and had decent conversion then slowed and now my new offer test is at a standstill (the alter ego) lots to assess. New things to try!

Not to sound like a “Debby Downer” here (although I do feel like this a lot lately), I am having trouble with: 1. Getting women to my community in the first place. I actually have quite a few followers - 18,000 fb/ 5700 IG/ 9500 FB group - but in the last 6 months have only attracted 277 members. 2. Once they are there, getting them to come back and engage - it feels like they join, and then never return again as many have not come back in for well over 100 days. I still have 87% at level 1 even though there are clear paths and encouragement on how to lead them forward with ease. 3. My conversion to premium and VIP is extremely low - and I think a lot of that is because they do not return or they do not move past level 1 to even begin to see the value of what is there. I truly believe that I have built something super special - that is the feedback I receive from the ones who actually use it the way it is designed. It is just getting there with more women. Below is my current about page text - have changed it sooooo many times - so this is the current version. Also am attaching what it looks like when they join - the two community posts, and the start here classroom and inside the start here classroom. I think I must be too thick inside of the trees to see the forest. Any feedback, recommendations would be incredibly helpful and deeply appreciated. ******** Every woman in menopause deserves to feel like herself again. When a woman feels healthy, confident, and full of life, she shines. Her family feels it. Her friends feel it. The world is better because of it. Too often, menopause quietly steals that light. Many women are dismissed, told it’s just aging. Others finally start HRT, only to realize something still isn’t quite right. Because feeling like yourself again is about more than estrogen and progesterone. Whether you’re in perimenopause or postmenopause… Your thyroid, blood sugar, stress, sleep, gut health, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle all influence how you feel.
