🚨 BIG Amazon KDP Update
🎧📚Amazon just dropped some BIG news for self-published authors today! 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲+, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! This is a pretty significant change, especially for authors who have already turned their books into audiobooks or are considering doing so. 🔥 Here's What's Changing:𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲+ Amazon is expanding its subscription program beyond eBooks. Subscribers can now read AND listen to eligible books at no additional cost. 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲+ 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 Previously, Kindle Unlimited royalties were based on pages read. Now, eligible audiobook listening activity will also earn royalties based on pages listened to. Amazon says it's adding additional money to the KDP Select Global Fund to support audiobook listening. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 If you have an audiobook created with Amazon's Virtual Voice and your eBook is enrolled in KDP Select, your audiobook is automatically included in Kindle+. If you've created audiobooks through ACX, you may also be eligible to enroll them. However, ACX audiobooks must meet certain requirements: Exclusive distribution through Audible Read & Listen (formerly Whispersync for Voice) enabled Pay for Production payment model (Royalty Share titles aren't eligible yet) 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 You'll now be able to see pages read and pages listened to separately in your KDP reports, making it easier to track how customers are consuming your books. 💡 My Thoughts as a Self-Published Author, I think this could be a BIG opportunity for authors, particularly those publishing nonfiction. Audiobooks have been a significant part of my publishing business, and I've seen firsthand how having multiple formats can create additional income streams from the same book. However, 𝗜'𝗺 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. More listeners could mean more exposure and potentially more revenue, but we still need to see how the new royalty structure performs in practice.

I would love to create audiobooks too, not sure where to even start. I recently published an adult fiction book that would work great as audio.

Holiday shopping season is about to kick into high gear, and one thing I want to remind you of is that 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀! People LOVE supporting small businesses, especially during the holidays. And if you're a self-published author, this could be a great opportunity to get your books into the hands of local shoppers. One of my favorite things about self-publishing with Amazon KDP is that you can order 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁! Depending on your book's size, page count, and printing specifications, you might pay as little as $3–$5 per book. Now imagine taking those books to a local craft fair, holiday market, book signing, or community event and selling them for $20 each. That's potentially $𝟭𝟱–$𝟭𝟳 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀! And here's another reason I LOVE this business model: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗢 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗗𝗣 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀! You don't have to invest thousands of dollars ordering hundreds of books and hoping they sell. You can start small, test the demand, and order more as needed. Think about all the opportunities around you this holiday season. Children's books make wonderful gifts, coloring books are great stocking stuffers, and even nonfiction books can be positioned as thoughtful gifts for the right audience. Remember, Amazon is just ONE way to sell your books. As a self-published author, you're building a business, and sometimes your next customer isn't searching on Amazon. They're walking through a local holiday market looking for something special! 💬 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁? 𝗢𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻? Let's hear your thoughts! 👇

📚 Do You HAVE to Run Amazon Ads?
I keep getting asked this question, so I want to share my perspective based on my own personal experience. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿? 𝗡𝗢. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗗𝗣. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider them! Now, before you go running off to turn on Amazon Ads, hear me out. I'm not saying you should start advertising the second your book goes live. In fact, I recommend doing your own organic marketing first. Learn how to promote your book, get it in front of readers, and start building some momentum. I personally like to see at least 𝟮𝟬+ 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 on a book before investing in advertising. Once you've established some social proof, why not give ads a try? And no, you don't need to spend thousands of dollars! Even a $𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁 can start giving you valuable information about whether your book is gaining traction. You might discover that ads work well for your book, or you might realize there's something you need to improve before investing more money. 🚀 Here's Where My Mindset Is Different…𝗜'𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲. 𝗜'𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠. Think about it. You spend weeks or months researching, writing, formatting, publishing, and marketing your book. But what happens when you're ready to move on to your NEXT book? Are you going to spend every single day manually promoting the last one? And then the one before that? And the one before THAT? 😅 That's not the kind of business I'm trying to build. I want my books to continue generating sales while I'm working on other projects, spending time with my family, or simply enjoying life. 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. They allow me to create a marketing system that doesn't require me to constantly show up and promote the same book every day. Of course, ads still need monitoring and adjustments, but they can take some of that daily promotional work off my plate.

I'm at the stage of struggling to market my books. I just freeze when thinking about it. I know I need to market them and give copies away and gather some reviews but that's where I go paralysed.

@Krista Brea it really is mindset. Thankful to be here which I know will help overcome this 🙏🏻
How Do You Get Paid?
💰 You Published Your Book on Amazon KDP… Now How Do You Get Paid? I've been seeing this question pop up quite a bit lately! Authors finally get their books published on Amazon, but then they're wondering… 🤔 How do I know if someone bought my book? 🤔 Where can I see how much money I've made? 🤔 When does Amazon actually pay me? If you're new to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), here's how it works! 💵 1. How Do You Make Money With KDP? When someone purchases your paperback, hardcover, or eBook, you earn a royalty. Your royalty is the portion of the sale that Amazon pays you after applicable costs and fees. You can also earn royalties when Kindle Unlimited subscribers read pages of an eligible eBook enrolled in KDP Select! 📊 2. Where Do You Find Your Earnings? This is the part many new authors miss! 👉 Log in to your KDP account at https://kdp.amazon.com 👉 Click Reports at the top of your dashboard. 👉 Select Royalties Estimator to see how much you've earned. You can filter your earnings by book, marketplace, format, and date range. Want to see how many books you've sold? Check the Orders report! You can also go directly to your reports here: https://kdpreports.amazon.com 📅 3. When Does Amazon Pay You? Here's the important part: Amazon doesn't pay you immediately after a sale! KDP typically pays royalties approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which the sale was reported. For example: 📚 January sales → Paid at the end of March 📚 February sales → Paid at the end of April 📚 March sales → Paid at the end of May Expanded Distribution royalties generally take longer (approximately 90 days). So don't panic if you made sales this month but haven't received a deposit! 🏦 4. How Do You Receive Your Money? Amazon sends your royalties using the payment method you've set up in your KDP account. Make sure your banking information and tax details are completed correctly. Good news! Electronic funds transfers generally have no minimum royalty threshold, so you don't need to sell hundreds of books before receiving your first payment. Check and wire payments may have minimum thresholds.

I received my 1st payout in September which was €8, I smiled all day! I made a 1st sale this week of a children's paperback that I already published a year ago.
