🏆 Cycle 2 Winners Are Here!
Cycle 2 is officially wrapped, and we’re excited to announce the builders taking home a share of the $17,000 USDC prize pool. The Community Council decided to split 2nd place between two builders this cycle: 🥇 Knock by @Kaichao Sun: $7,000 An encrypted chat built on Nimiq where users can set a connection cost for strangers while keeping conversations private. Knock also supports sending and receiving NIM directly in chats, tipping other community members, and joining public group conversations. 🥈 Blacktop by @Jesse Lukose: $4,000 A privacy-first ride companion built for real riders and real rides, whether you’re riding solo or with a crew. Blacktop combines ride tracking with Pay Up, its built-in wallet, plus Blacktank, a shared crew fuel pot that only pays out with a unanimous vote, and instant QR tips in NIM or USDT. 🥈 NIMIQ.kids by @Andjroo Me: $4,000 A family Mini App that turns chores into real NIM. Parents set rewards, kids complete jobs, and approved rewards are sent directly to an account the child owns. Kids can then spend it on screen time and treats, keeping the whole flow within the family. 🥉 PROOF by @Christopher Okunade: $2,000 A learning platform that combines AI-powered skill paths, real-world challenges, and verified proofs to help users demonstrate what they can actually do. The goal is to turn learning into something you can prove, showcase, and use to unlock new opportunities. Big thanks to the Community Council for reviewing every submission and selecting this cycle’s winners. And of course, thank you to everyone who built and shipped a Mini App this cycle. You made Cycle 2 one to remember, and we’re excited to see where you take things next. Want to dive deeper into the winning submissions? 📋 Official statement from the Nimiq Community Council: Hey everyone, and congrats to all the winners of Cycle 2! 🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who participated. Judging this cycle was especially difficult because of the number and quality of submissions. There were many genuinely interesting projects, and the scores were often very close. We originally planned to select three winners, but ultimately decided on four because the results deserved it. 🥇 Knock took first place with a strong overall build, a clear use case, and a great testing experience. It also stood out because it already had a solid number of users, showing that people were not just interested in the concept but actively using it. 🥈 We decided to split second place between Nimiq Kids and Blacktop. Both had interesting concepts and strong builds. While there were a few smaller technical issues, user traction also played an important role in the final scoring. 🥉 Proof took third place. We especially liked its concept and potential to bring more attention and users to Nimiq. It was well built and already had some usage, making it another strong submission. Several other apps also came very close. Some impressed us enough that we may consider supporting them separately through the Nimiq Community Council. Unfortunately, not every great app can win. One important takeaway for all builders going into the next cycle: users matter a lot in the scoring. Reaching 25+ users gives you the full points in this category, so actively getting your app in front of people, asking them to test it and building some early traction can make a real difference. Even a technically excellent app can lose significant points here and potentially miss a winning spot if it doesn’t reach enough users. Overall, Cycle 2 showed another big step forward in both the number and quality of apps being built. Thanks again to everyone who participated, tested, gave feedback and kept building. 🙏 Congrats again to Knock, Nimiq Kids, Blacktop and Proof!
