I’m really happy to hear that there’s going to be a third edition of this really interesting little competition. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of this third round, and especially to finding out whether we’ll be given some specific constraints or a more focused theme, or whether we’ll still have complete freedom to create whatever we want. As for me, I’m not going to reveal everything I have in mind just yet. Some people have already seen a few things I’ve posted, but I’ve got another ace up my sleeve that’s slowly taking shape, and I’m finding it really interesting so far. This one is a bit more relatable to everyone, I think, compared to QuickProof. The idea actually came to me from watching people at work—and people in general—using email and similar tools. So, we’ll see where it goes. I might even be tempted to release this project completely open source. I haven’t made up my mind yet, though. 😄 Until then good luck to everyone 🤘🏻
Cycle 2 post app maintenance
since we have 142 apps submissions, will you guys continue work on your app in regardless wining or not ? for my nimbooks.subimpact.net i will continue optimising it for the betterment of nimiq ecosystem which has practical usage. i konw @Francois Bradette & @Dany Nimiqfr & @Harley NSpace apps would be a fine addition to the ecosystem which i hope post comp will still focus on updating and fine tuning it :)

@Jeremy Lee Oh my God, thank you! I honestly don’t even know how I feel right now. I feel… honored, I guess, just to have been mentioned. It’s pretty amazing, and I really didn’t expect it. So yes, I want to wish everyone who participated the best of luck, especially all the people whose apps I actually saw and tried. Because out of those 142 entries, there are at least 100, probably even more than 120, that I haven’t seen at all. But regardless, I want to wish everyone the best of luck. As for me, I don’t think there’s much more to add at this point. I haven’t received any other feedback saying that certain things weren’t working or that people wished there were more options. So I think QuickProof has pretty much reached its final form. And honestly, that’s perfectly fine, because I already have two or three other projects sitting on my tablet that have been waiting for a very, very, very long time. One of them is already in progress, and I might have something to announce eventually. I’ve been talking with a third party that is actually very important to how this project could work, and they’re very interested, so that’s pretty exciting. Now we just have to see how we can bring Nemo—or something similar—into the picture. But that’s another story. And there’s also another little personal side project that I think is really cool. So I’ll probably have to decide which one I want to focus on more seriously for Cycle 3. But anyway, thank you. Honestly, I don’t really know what else to say. Just being nominated is already something I’m really happy about. Thank you

Great news! Although I’m sure this probably caused some anxiety among a few of us 😆 So, I wish myself and all the other participants the best of luck! As for me, I’ll probably be back for Cycle 3. And if I don’t make the top 3, at least I can tell myself that my political party is now in power 🤘🏻😁 So I’ll just take that as my consolation prize! 😆
🎤 How did you spend your weekend?
142 Mini Apps are under review and the wait is almost over. While the Community Council works through your submissions, we want to know how you spent the weekend. Were you making some last improvements to your Cycle 2 submission, planning what you want to build for Cycle 3, or taking some time away from the screen entirely? Let us know in the comments, and stay close for the next announcement.

Glad to hear that Cycle 2 is coming to an end soon and that your judging duties are almost finished. I assume you’re probably happy about that too! 😆 So, let’s wish everyone good luck — especially me, of course. 😂 Although, to be honest, I have very low expectations. I did have a great weekend, but honestly, weekend or weekday, they all kind of look the same to me. I’ve been working pretty hard on the next cycle, and things are finally starting to take shape. We’re no longer in the “just an idea on paper” stage. It’s functional now. There are still some glitches, obviously, but the foundation is there. Now it’s mostly about polishing everything and making sure it all works smoothly. There have also been a few changes in direction from the original idea for the project. But now the direction is clear, and it’s starting to become something pretty awesome, especially with some of the features I haven’t really seen anywhere else so far. So we’ll see where it goes. But either way, it’s still a lot of fun to build. 😎
QuickProof changes
evening on a mix of migration + bug fixes for QuickProof (the shipment-photo-documentation companion app to QuickQuoteTool): Migrated off a Raspberry Pi 4 onto Oracle Cloud's Always Free tier. Setup Cloudflare Tunnel on the new box, moved PayPal creds, VAPID push keys, and email-verification state over without any downtime for users.. Fixed a real mobile Safari bug: the Privacy/Terms/Support/Status pages were overflowing sideways on actual phones Settings redesign: the "Department Emails" configured department as a fully-expanded card directly in Settings — fine with 2-3 departments, miserable with 10+. Now it's its own screen (tap a menu row to open it), each department collapses to a one-line summary (name + email), and "+ Add another" moved to the top of the list instead of the bottom so it's reachable without scrolling server status page now reports "Hosted on Oracle Cloud" post-migration, in all 5 supported languages. Nothing user-facing broke, no downtime, and I've got measurements (not vibes) backing the mobile fix this time. 🙂

@Jeremy Lee Hey! Sure, no problem. First, I’ll start by saying that this app is pretty niche and doesn't focus at all on whether the user has any knowledge of Nimiq or crypto général. It was originally created to solve a problem for our logistics team at work. The dock workers and order pickers were asked by management to take photos of incoming and outgoing shipments because some clients were receiving damaged goods. As you can imagine, it was pretty tedious: take one or several photos, open an email client, search for contacts (often multiple people), attach the photos, add the client name and PO/reference number, and send it out. On top of that, the team ended up with 20 to 30 work photos on their personal phones, which caused a lotof friction and pushback. So that’s why it was built. To answer your question: for the average person who doesn't run a business or a side hustle, and isn't shipping to clients or receiving from suppliers, this app has very little appeal crypto or not. As for Nimiq, it’s only used for donations, nothing more. Is a regular Nimiq user likely to use this app and donate? Very unlikely. But will users be curious and look up what Nimiq is? A small portion probably will, especially once we launch on Google Play (hopefully soon). To sum it up, this app is for anyone crypto user or not who needs to prove that a product was sent or received in good (or bad) condition. Sorry this is just a Boring working tools 😆Nothing more. 😉

@Jeremy Lee Thank you for your suggestions, comments, and observations. I really appreciate it. It’s always great to get feedback on something you’re working on, because when you’re so deep into a project, you eventually stop seeing things clearly. Just to clarify, QuickProof isn’t locked into a specific niche or limited to one particular use. I originally built it for logistics, shipping, receiving, and things like that. But if we manage to get it through Google Play and people end up using it for something completely different, that’s perfectly fine too. At the end of the day, the tool is free, and it will always remain free. So if someone wants to use it as proof for insurance purposes, or for whatever else they find useful, that’s great. The more people who use it, the happier I’ll be. And obviously, the more people using it, the more chances there are that someone will discover it and give it a review. Honestly, I don’t have any expectations. Right now, there are maybe three or four of us using it across two companies, and that’s pretty much it. 😆
