I have started taking my business seriously and stopped taking myself so seriously. I have accepted I come from a long lineage of "fucked up" women and I have been a "fucked up woman" believing, and acting as if my only place was "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" (a quote from my 9th grade math teacher and the coach of the boys' basketball team when I got yet another 100% in his math tests...). Time to rise and shine. Women's work is honorable and I love and choose to live it, benefit from it, and make a positive impact for the very young and their elders. Thanks @Nancy Seymour and of course all of y'all!

Letter of the Week: M for Mindset!
Your mindset shapes how you see yourself, how you respond to challenges, and what you believe is possible. Your mind can be your greatest ally or your biggest obstacle. In The Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow’s intellect, the Tin Man’s heart, and the Lion’s courage were inside them all along. Sometimes, the permission we’re waiting for has to come from within. This week, dive into Chapter M: Mindset and use Forbes’ Permission Card in the Resource Center to put “I hereby grant myself permission to…” into action. 👇 Discussion Question: What’s one thing you need to give yourself permission to do right now?

@Barry Black thank you! "I don't need permission from my past to create my future! " I hereby grant permission to let go of all the records to defend the past. I hereby grant permission to keep only what builds the future of my soul's desires. Thank you!

I hereby grant myself permission to channel my precious energy to create joy, compassion, and unconditional love now and consistently. I watched this @Team Forbes Riley TedX from August 4 this year yesterday! Invigorating with permission granted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH5xiGc6iBQ
A space created for the next generation
I've spent so many years running away from my true calling. I know what it's like to be misunderstood by the people closest to you and yet I kept going. This is why I created Compass Mentoring. Parents will always want the best for their kids, but there are times when it's hard to know for sure. There are families where parents want their kids to go to college, some want to put them in the same field as they are to carry out the family business or tradition. Neither is right or wrong, however even in families no one is the same and not listening to your true calling can be expensive in the long run. How many people have you seen they actually feel fulfilled? Compass is a mentorship program that transforms insecure teens and young adults ages 12 to 24 into highly confident people with the mindset, character and determination to build the life they want for themselves. I believe in leading by example with my acting career and we all deserve to live by what actually fulfills us. What we've normalized is not our fault as that's what we were taught. Doesn't mean it cannot be changed. That can create a stronger family relationship.
