Little Sunflower (Icebreaker)
My 'Icebreaker' post on rejoining the Jazz Guitar Academy platform after over a year away. Its also my first modal tune which meant thinking of something to play over 16 bars of Dm7. Little Sunflower is a trippy laid back modal jazz tune by Freddy Hubbard with an AABA form. I tried several approaches to the improvisation and settled on my usual approach of taking off from the melody, with licks based on the D Dorian scale but with each trip around the A section trying to move a little more 'outside' via use of triad pairs. I credit Steve Gregory's version of the tune on Youtube as the source of one or two small components of the improv, but I've tried to build the large majority of it from my own ideas. Got to say it was a challenge, particularly in the timing and balancing precision with the laid back vibe. Feedback welcome. https://youtu.be/BqXCCfchTq0 4CE (Head in, Improv 1, Improv 2, Head out)

I actually just heard this song for the first time recently. I really enjoyed your take on it…some really cool lines. I also liked the way you left space throughout.
Fingering Question C13
Ok I just realized when working on Autumn Leaves intro measure 5 that I have been fingering the C13 differently than Marc in all of my etudes. I have been using 1x123x (with a half bar) instead of 1x234x. (I just shifted the 3rd finger down to flat the 13th.) It seems like an easier fingering to me. Should I use the fingering shown or what works for me? Thanks!

@Mentor Bob Kinney That makes sense Bob, thank you!
Second try on Etudes 1.3 and 1.4 with metronome 100 bpm
I practiced counting the rhythms, isolating the chords separately and practiced and played them now altogether, still you may hear some inconsistency on the chords ringing or transition. I tried @Coach Gabriel Sebrian ' suggestion here and Marc's video here on my counting practice. I think I am getting there, I can count the rhythm on my head and foot, but it may not completely reflect on guitar sound.

@Casey Childers Thanks Casey. I’m pretty much finger style all the time and I’m not really good with a pick but I do like the sound sometimes.
Etudes 2.3 and 2.4
Been working on these two etudes. There are a couple of tricky changes (for me) that I isolated and worked on a lot and I made progress I believe. I'm going to go to work on the blues etude and then hopefully some music soon :) Any feedback is always welcome as usual...thanks! https://youtu.be/uyoGcJRbB2Q https://youtu.be/u1_hkCKsoZw
