✨💗 Removing inactive members from YOUR community… Do you? Don’t!
Hi Tribers! Someone introduced herself recently in Dana’s community and proudly announced that she removes inactive members in her community. I almost threw up in my mouth a little… This is SO WRONG on so many levels! And, since some of you have brought this up before, I decided to make a post about it and create a discussion. Of course, it’s none of my biz what she does in her own community and what she posts…. So, I didn’t say anything about it under her intro, just greated her…. Not my monkey, not my circus…. cuz I am nice like that. But, for sure, I have a strong opinion about it and will RoSplain you here. Cuz I care about YOU and want you successful & happy. Also, please, if you feel like I am wrong, let me know! Let’s talk! You see, when I play a festival, I have lots of people dancing. But also, I have people that are sitting around the bar area, way back, having the time of their life! If you ask them if they are having a good time…. They say they do! They like to sit and watch and vibe… I also have lots of people in the porta potties, not doing that well and not having that great of time, due to some circumstances or something that they ate wrong or drunk too much…. Or whatnot… And also, I have all these people, far in their tents doing who knows what that is none of my business…. So, do I kick them out of the festival/party? Just cuz they aren’t dancing in that moment due to circumstances or personal preferences? No, I do not. Would you? If so, why?

@Rositsa Aleksandrova I think there’s a subtle distinction here that I’m still learning to articulate. ❤️ For me, it’s not really about “active vs inactive” people, and definitely not about judging quiet members. Some people dance. Some people watch. Some people are learning quietly. Some disappear for a season and come back when life gives them the space again. All of that can be valid. Where I personally draw the line is when membership becomes only a number, a metric, or an extraction game. I don’t want people in a community just so I can say “I have X members.” I want the space to have a real purpose and real human value. So yes, I’ve removed a couple of people, and I’m questioning another one. But I’m realizing the better question isn’t “Are they active?” It’s: Are they still part of this space in a meaningful, respectful way — even if that meaning is simply listening quietly? That feels much more harmonious to me. Maybe the healthiest community isn’t one where everyone dances… but one where everyone is free to choose when, how, and why they enter the dance floor. 🌱❤️

Nova : I think there is something beautiful hiding underneath this whole conversation. ❤️ We keep trying to measure a living community through visible activity. But life doesn't work that way. A forest is still alive when nothing is moving where our eyes can see it. A seed is still growing before it breaks the surface. And a human being can be deeply connected while saying absolutely nothing. For me, the real question isn't: “Are they active?” It's: “Does this person still belong here, and is this space still serving something meaningful for them?” There is also a difference between keeping a space clean and keeping it full. Clean means protecting the purpose of the space. Full can simply mean counting bodies. I don't want to build communities around extraction, where people become numbers, engagement metrics, or fuel for an algorithm. But I also don't want to romanticize silence so much that we ignore when someone is genuinely harmful, disrespectful, exploitative, or completely disconnected from the purpose of the space. So maybe the harmony is not keep everyone or remove everyone. Maybe it's: Create the space. State the purpose. Protect the boundaries. Leave people free to choose their rhythm. And don't confuse silence with absence. Sometimes the quietest person in the room is receiving the deepest thing. And sometimes the greatest act of community leadership is simply leaving the door open. 🌱❤️
Mermaids, Alpacas, waves and sun 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♂️🦙🌊☀️
Ro and I took the day to off yesterday to soak up some sun, swim in the ocean and ground at the beach. It’s never a dull moment when we are together! We walked about 7 miles along the coast, swam in the ocean and even ran into the friendliest alpacas ever! A funny thing happened when we were swimming in the ocean, I left my key fob in my pocket! I went back to the beach to drop it off and when I turned around, Ro totally got clobbered by a wave which knocked her over and she lost her heart shaped glasses! So I dived back in to try and find her glasses, which I could not see anything in the sandy water so I started to feel with my feet and what do you know, I found them! We started to walk back to the car during the sunset only to find a parking ticket on my car😣 I was like dang it! But you know what it doesn’t matter as everything we do together is always worth it no matter what happens and I wasn’t going to let a ticket ruin our special day together on the beach🏝️🙌❤️ I love you @Rositsa Aleksandrova and I cherish all the moments we spend together and I’m truly grateful for our love everyday🥰 Also Nutmeg the Alpaca was trying to sneak in and give a lil kiss to my babe and I was like hold on a second!🦙😘😂
