Yoruba Masquerades And Halloween: Two Cultures One Fascination With The Unseen 🎭
At first glance, the Yoruba masquerade and Halloween may seem world apart. One emerges from a rich African cultural and spiritual tradition, while the other developed through European seasonal and Christian customs. Yet, beneath the masks, customs and mystery, they reveal something deeply human.. our desire to explore the unseen and transform the ordinary. In both traditions: People dress differently. Faces may be hidden. Everyday identity are transformed. The physical world encounters symbols of the invisible. But their meanings are not the same. In many Yoruba traditions, masquerades are deeply connected to culture, community, spirituality, ancestral remembrance and ritual. A masquerade is not merely a costume worn for entertainment. Depending on the tradition, it may carry sacred, ancestral or communal significance, representing a connection between the visible and invisible worlds. Halloween, was influenced by Celtic harvest festival which has roots in older European seasonal traditions, particularly Samhain, as well as later Christian All Hallows’ Eve customs. There was a belief that the boundary between the living and dead became more permeable, so they wore disguises or left offerings for the spirits. Over time, it evolved into the modern celebration many people recognize today, with costumes, masks, storytelling, decorations, parties and playful encounters with supernatural themes. ( @Dana Renee )🙏🏾 So the most fascinating comparison is not about deciding which tradition is better or more mysterious. It is about recognizing that human beings everywhere have created ways to engage with mystery. Africa expresses its mysteries through its own cultural language: Through drums. Through dance. Through masks. Through masquerades. Through ancestral stories. Through rituals. Through community. Through wisdom passed from one generation to another. The West has its own expressions of the mysterious, shaped by different histories, symbols and meanings.

@Jarne Großstück saw it several times in movies and all and have been wondering how people sit still and get steamed up like that without running out of that room 😂 I found some places on the island that got sauna spots I might check it out one of these days

🌟 Day 3: Geometry & Resonance 🌟
🌎What It Is Today, we see thoughts as shapes and feel for coherence. Your inner world is not abstract—it is geometry. And resonance is how your breath confirms your truth. 🙏Practice Inhale slowly. See your thoughts as shapes. Pause. Ask: “Does this resonate with my breath?” Let your body be the tuning fork. 🌀Challenge Transformed If you feel doubt or resistance to teachings, ask not what is true—but what feels coherent. Your breath will tell you. ❤️‍🔥Shift You stop seeking answers outside. You begin to feel your own coherence, and align with your own sacred geometry.

@Jarne Großstück I meditated before heading out to play some pool today, just trying to keep my inner peace steady through all the chaos and noise around me. it’s amazing how a little stillness beforehand can change how you experience everything afterwards. And sometimes you don’t need to think your way into the truth you just need to become still enough to feel it. The handpan came out well this time around and i enjoyed the beautiful sound🙏🏾🤍 keep going💪🏽 Peace and love bro🧘🏾‍♂️🙏🏾🌀
Challenge: Making an impossible game in 30 days [06/30]
Surprise, I shifted the whole game from 2D to 3D because it makes more sense for the level design to have natural borders (the mountain shape). _ Hi I am a gamedev and I document my challenge of making a game in 30 days and releasing it on steam. Hopefully I can inspire others to follow their dreams being confident and showing themselves and their work on social media!

It’s Two’sday y’all🤗🤍🙏🏾🪬
There are two simple things we do every single day without thinking much about them: We breathe in. We breathe out. One brings something into us. The other allows something to leave. We do the same thing in life without always noticing: We receive and release. ⚡️ We speak and listen. 🗣️ We work and rest. 😴 We give and receive. 🎁 Maybe balance was never meant to be complicated. Sometimes it’s simply understanding when to hold on… and when to let go.💯 So for this Two’sday, take a moment between the next two breaths. What might life be teaching us through something we do thousands of times a day?🤔 Happy Two’sday, everyone. One love, one world, one humanity 🤍🌎🧘🏾‍♂️
