Finally making a tank of my own
At one time I had 20 aquariums up and running and now I only have a filterless setup for a large water bug but I’ve decided I’m setting up a lagoon tank for saltwater. Very excited to get this going! No water yet just the scape but I like it.

New
Hello, I’m a mom newly moved to Canada that briefly had a small freshwater tank when we lived in US. I plan to do bigger tanks with aquascaping this time and am hoping to come to this group with questions I have along my journey.

Awesome what part of Canada did you move to?
Introduction
Hi everyone ! Im fairly new to this saltwater aquarium world ! We have a 36 gallon tank that we have had for a while it was doing really well for a while and then it seems keep losing fish, we did have a one with fin rot and we eventually lost it, I tried to treat it but think it was to late, we now have a just a snowflake eel and a Fiji orange tail Puffer in there , I have them separated as we are going to be moving into a 54 gallon tank and letting the snowflake has his own space. The snowflake seems to be doing great an the puffer seems to struggling a little bit and seems lethargic, maybe I’m just nervous since we have lost some fish

@Brian Wahl Hey Brian. I think the PH may be a little lower than 8. It’s tough with the test strips, we like to use the API test kits with the bottled liquids. The charts are a little clearer. And then it looks like there may be a little nitrate in the water as well. We typically shoot for 8.3 in our saltwater systems. What I would do is look at surface disruption in the tank as well as oxygen. Maybe consider and additional airstone or a protein skimmer. Make sure the surface of the water is being broken. And then when you are doing water changes. Make sure you are gravel vacuuming well for waste. I find pockets of waste to develop in the corners of the tank as well as at the base of the rock structure. Hope this helps!
Late night motivation
Haven’t done much in the community! I’ve been changing a lot of stuff at the shop. Mid shipment I got distracted by these acros in the deep blues. Happy reefing!
