I don't even want to make the decision for Match #70.
I suspect that's going to become a regular refrain from here on, because I love every fragrance still standing. Today it's the now-seemingly-discontinued Prada L'Homme Intense versus YSL Y Le Parfum (2025).
And if you've been thinking about buying L'Homme Intense, this may be a "get it while you can" situation. Jomashop still has it listed...sort of. Make of that what you will.
The Prada is the darker of these two fragrances. That gorgeous powdery iris dominates the opening before settling into an earthy, woody base with amber, patchouli, leather, and tonka. It's rich, smooth, sophisticated, and one of those fragrances that becomes more interesting as the hours pass.
Y Le Parfum comes from the opposite direction. It's brighter and fresher, with that pine-tree character I enjoy so much, along with citrus, ginger, aromatics, amber, patchouli, and woods. If you enjoy blue fragrances but want something with a distinctive twist, this is a terrific choice. And the performance on my skin has been excellent throughout this tournament.
So what separates them?
Today, apparently, I'm in the mood for darkness.
Prada L'Homme Intense survives and advances into the final six fragrances. YSL Y Le Parfum is eliminated from the tournament.
Another fragrance I love is gone. At this point, I'm beginning to resent the person who came up with this tournament.
Oh, right. That was me.
