Thought id do a dedicated post for reviews this time because i tried quite a few new ones. Maybe ill go in depth for a few. The picture i attached also has the usual SOTDs but ill focus mostly on the new ones. Going chronologically… Ill start with Amouage Reflection 45. Wow. I thought gucci guilty elixir was a great fragrance and this just takes it to the next level. So much depth and complexity. Its almost exactly like GG elixir but its got fresh spiciness, resins, greens and opulence. Performance is on par with GG elixir. If im being completely honest then R45 ruined GG elixir for me. I am clearing out few fragrances and unfortunately GG elixir made it to that list. It smells feminine, simpler and powdery compared to R45. Hopefully R45 or any other reflection flanker could replace GG Elixir. For now im happy using the sample. Easy 9.5/10. Dior Fahrenheit EDT is next. We all know a certain individual in the community who call it their number 1 fragrance but ill still give my honest take. Its nothing like what i imagined. I expected it to smell like burning gasoline and leather. But i was pleasantly surprised with what i got. Lots of aromatics, florals and base notes blended coarsely which you dont see very often nowadays. What stuck out the most to me was bergamot, chamomile, lavender, violet leaf, cedar, nutmeg, patchouli, vetiver and leather. The remainder (mandarin orange, lemon, mace, hawthorn, carnation, honeysuckle, jasmine, lily, sandalwood, amber, musk and tonka; WHEW) were either light, overpowered or new to my nose. I do like it but it smells old school. I dont expect anyone under the age of 30 to wear this. Definitely 30+ fall winter staple. Solid 6-7 hr performance. I can imagine swole men wearing it on their harleys. Quite a picture that one. But all said it was enjoyable and cozy. I would give it a 7.5/10. Not my style, bit outdated and too many things going on but if you like old school scents then this is a must try. Another amouage and this time its opus XVI timber. I understand the amouage hype now. I saw the notes and was expecting this to smell obnoxious and unbearable. Boy was i wrong. One of the best “im him” fragrance ive tried. Turns you from peter parker to iron man. Its uniquely green and resinous with burnt bitterness and sweetness. Im finding it hard to explain the smell. Drydown is super addictive. Performance has no complaints. Needs more wears to understand when and where to wear but this might make it into my collection sooner than i think. Everyone has to try this one. Amouage hype is justified and ill give this one a 9.5/10 as well. They just dont miss.
