The fragrance opens with a deep, commanding woody accord, contrasted beautifully by the crisp cleanliness of aldehydes and neroli. There is an intriguing duality from the start—dark and substantial underneath, yet polished and luminous on the surface. At around 15 minutes, the initial freshness begins to soften as oud and leather move decisively into the foreground. The composition becomes deep, intense, and unapologetically rich, with the leather adding texture to the darker woody character. By 30 minutes, the intensity begins to settle beautifully. The oud and leather remain prominent but become noticeably smoother and more refined, while subtle traces of the earlier freshness linger in the background. What initially felt powerful now begins to feel distinctly classy and sophisticated. At around 60 minutes, the oud and leather continue to soften, making the fragrance increasingly wearable. A subtle earthiness begins to emerge underneath, adding another layer of depth and providing balance to the composition. The dry down is simply exceptional. A beautifully settled combination of woody oud and polished leather rests over earthy nuances, while a surprising veil of freshness remains woven through the composition. It is dark without becoming oppressive, fresh without losing depth, and complex without feeling disjointed. In typical Guerlain fashion, the execution feels effortlessly elegant and sophisticated. Overall, this is a beautifully constructed contrast of oud, leather, earthiness, aldehydes, and neroli. The dry down is the highlight—complex, polished, and remarkably elegant. Performance: Projection is good, creating approximately a 2.5-foot scent bubble for nearly three hours. Sillage is equally solid, leaving a noticeable 3+ foot scent trail for over two hours. Longevity is great, lasting around 8–9 hours on my skin and becoming a skin scent at approximately the four-hour mark. My Rating: 8.5/10. This is definitely FBW for me.

I wanted to share this in case any of you have ever been interested in Blind Barber fragrances. They started with a unique concept. a barbershop with a hidden bar tucked away behind the last chair. Eventually, they launched a grooming line, which now includes fragrances. Ulta currently has them on sale for 50% off. They weren’t overly expensive at $98 for 50 ml, but at $49, they’re a steal. I have two of them Shinjuku Mood and Speakeasy. Shinjuku is my favorite, it’s a tea fragrance with a sweet burst of black currant in the opening, drying down to a smooth sandalwood. It fresh and very relaxing fragrance. At this price it’s worth giving them a try.
