SOTD September 8th
House of Dastan Light Breeze I did buy the sampler set RMRS put out. Haven't tried them all as some winter fragrances. I like this one. Fragrance Notes Key Drivers: Ambroxan, Nutmeg, Pink Pepper Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Bergamot, Verbena, Mandarin, Pink Pepper, Cardamom, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Orcanox, Rose Tonka, Sandalwood, Ambrette Musk, Moss, Ambery Woods. Driven by enduring notes that harmonize from start to finish — a scent beyond structure.

Match #66
Match #66 is where being a Chanel fanboy becomes a problem: Bleu de Chanel EDP versus Chanel Pour Monsieur EDP. I love both of these fragrances, and both absolutely belong in my collection. Unfortunately, only one gets to survive this matchup. Bleu de Chanel EDP is still the gold standard for blue fragrances as far as I'm concerned. Citrus and grapefruit give it freshness up top, while ginger, incense, cedar, sandalwood, and amber woods create a beautifully smooth and sophisticated drydown. And its versatility is almost impossible to beat. Any season, dressed up or dressed down, day or night—BDC simply works. Pour Monsieur comes from a very different era and represents a much more classic style of masculine perfumery. Citrus, lavender, spices, vetiver, and woods give it that elegant barbershop character I increasingly appreciate. It's subtle, restrained, and sophisticated—the kind of fragrance that doesn't need to announce itself. This is exactly the sort of matchup I hate at this stage. I'm not choosing between a fragrance I like and one I don't. I'm choosing between two fragrances I want to continue wearing. But if I'm forced to keep reaching for only one, versatility wins the day. Bleu de Chanel EDP survives another round. Chanel Pour Monsieur EDP is eliminated from the tournament. The Chanel fanboy in me isn't particularly happy about having to do that. But at least Chanel won.
