I Wish someone told me............
💭 I WISH SOMEONE TOLD ME THIS B4 I GRADUATED BEAUTY SCHOOL…
If I could go back and tell my younger self ONE thing before graduating beauty school, it would be this:
GET A MENTOR. 👏🏽
I wish I understood back then just how important having a mentor was. If I had known, I would’ve found one a lot sooner.
Yes, beauty school taught me how to do hair. I learned the techniques, passed my exams, got my license, and was ready to get behind the chair.
But there were SO many things I still had to figure out on my own.
How do I build clientele?
How do I price my services?
How do I market myself?
How do I manage my money?
How do I turn my talent into an actual BUSINESS?
And most importantly… what do I do when I don’t know what to do next?
A good mentor doesn’t do the work for you. They help you avoid some of the mistakes they already made. They give you guidance, accountability, perspective, and somebody to call when you’re trying to figure this industry out.
Looking back, having the right mentor earlier could have saved me time, money, frustration, and A LOT of trial and error.
That’s one of the reasons mentorship is so important to me today. I know what it feels like to have the license and the talent but still have questions about the BUSINESS side of this industry.
