OpenClaw 2.0: What ProductiveBot Users Need to Know
OpenClaw 2.0 (v2026.8.1) is a major upgrade. The big theme is simple: easier setup, a cleaner place to work, better continuity, and less friction connecting AI access you may already pay for.
Here are the features that matter most:
🔑 ANTHROPIC SUBSCRIPTION ACCESS IS BACK
OpenClaw can reuse your existing Claude CLI login through Anthropic’s official Agent SDK. Eligible users can connect a paid Claude subscription instead of setting up a separate Anthropic API key and paying per token from the first request.
⚠️ EARLY-RELEASE NOTE: OpenClaw 2.0 is new, and Anthropic subscription reconnection and credit access may be buggy for some users right now. If it fails or your credits do not appear immediately, do not assume you are ineligible—comment below so we can help troubleshoot while the rollout stabilizes.
Anthropic’s monthly Agent SDK credits currently include:
• Pro: $20
• Max 5x: $100
• Max 20x: $200
• Eligible Team and Enterprise seats: $20 to $200
Agent SDK usage through OpenClaw draws from that credit first. This means you can use ProductiveBot without separate per-token charges while your included credit lasts.
Important: this is not unlimited free usage. When the monthly credit runs out, requests stop unless you choose to enable paid usage credits. The credit refreshes each billing cycle and unused credit does not roll over.
✨ FABLE 5 CREDITS
Fable 5 is included within plan limits for Max and eligible premium Team or Enterprise seats. Eligible Pro and standard Team subscribers may also be able to claim a one-time promotional credit worth up to $100. Those free credits can cover Fable 5 or other Claude models, so you do not pay token charges while the promotional balance covers your use.
Check Claude Settings > Usage to see what your account can claim. Claiming the promotion enables usage credits, but Anthropic says you are only charged if you later purchase additional credits.
🖥️ A MUCH BETTER WEB EXPERIENCE
The rebuilt Control UI makes it easier to:
• Start, find, rename, and manage conversations
• Follow what your assistant is doing
• Review and approve sensitive actions
• See files, browser activity, terminal work, and connected services
• Use OpenClaw comfortably from desktop or mobile
🧠 STRONGER MEMORY AND SESSION CONTINUITY
OpenClaw has rebuilt session and transcript storage around SQLite. Memory search, recall, imports, review, and forgetting are now more integrated. The practical benefit is fewer lost threads and better continuity across longer-running work.
Because storage changed, create a verified backup before upgrading and do not manually downgrade without following the migration guidance.
⚙️ SMARTER, SAFER SETUP
Guided setup can now detect supported Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, API-key, and local-model access already available on your computer. It tests the exact model before saving it, so “connected” is more likely to mean genuinely ready to work.
🛠️ RELIABILITY WHERE IT COUNTS
This release includes a large reliability pass across messaging, Slack, updates, restarts, long-running work, browser use, model connections, and recovery after interruptions. Many of these changes are not flashy, but they are exactly what makes an assistant more dependable in day-to-day business workflows.
Bottom line: OpenClaw 2.0 is less about one headline feature and more about making ProductiveBot easier to set up, easier to trust, and better at turning conversations into completed work.
