Thank you SAVI

Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time here, (and a few months in paid). I've listened to every episode of the hours, I've gone through RDS, LL, and a bunch of cohort videos.

It has transformed my philosophy on coaching. We just finished my first season as a SAVI coach (my 15th or so season overall) with our 7th Grade girls.

We did a modified version of LL blue so that the girls had less to think about since they were usually in the same spots relative to the ball. We did pressure for about 75% of the court.

We also did a basic version of RDS, where the primary focus was getting great spacing.

Our actions were Fingers and zoom. I think over the 10 games we played we didnt run either great 1 time. But we raced, raced, raced, and raced some more. We were the more aggressive team in almost every game. We had never attempted 3's in a game before this year and as a team made almost 2 per game on average and shot about 15 per game.

In practice we played a lot of games, pass tag, ultimate basketball (we call it touchdown), racecar. Most of the time we were split on half the court because the 8th grade coaches decided LL wasnt for them after the first few practices of adversity. So while they were trying to install their SLOB, and half court plays, we were screaming playing crazy and having a blast. You could see the difference when it came to games. Our girls were aggressive, tenacious, shared the ball and were just a pleasure to watch most of the time (We did struggle to make our 9s and 7s but I know that will come with time).

When other teams Pressed us we handled it with poise, breaking it without the ball touching the floor many times. I was so proud of everything we became. The 8th grade team struggled through the year. I'm not saying its all because of what we did vs what they did. I know it did play a big factor though. Oh and our wolf got hurt before our last 2 games and was unable to play. She was the girl that everyone else depended on in 4th - 6th grade. We won both games the girls still played great, broke presses, and looked like a team.

So to finish the essay, I just want to thank everyone at SAVI again, and everyone that has bought in and through their experience helped me learn more. There were years prior where HS Jobs would open and I felt like it was too much for me. I now know that the SAVI method is all it takes. I cant thank you guys enough.
