Learning Code in 2026: 3 things I’d focus on immediately
made this video on TokTik, and I thought I would share it here.
He brings up three really good points.
- Build tools that you will actually need.
- Share your work publicly.
- You don't need to learn everything.
I can totally relate to this because when I was learning, I wanted to build something that would help my child at the time learn their multiplication tables. That got me diving into the code.
Nowadays, with social media and even this CODE ZONE GROUP, it's a great way to share your work publicly on what you're doing. It gives you encouragement to see other people comment on what you're building and making.
And he's definitely right when he talks about you don't need to learn everything, because there's so many different rabbit holes you can go down. I see it so many times: people are like, "Oh, let me learn HTML. Okay, let me go learn React," and that's jumping too quickly, when you need to make sure that you're understanding some of the fundamentals. Only learn what you're trying to accomplish with your application.
