You know that feeling when something shouldn't be possible, and someone
goes and does it anyway.
Last week a 2.78 trillion parameter model answered a question on an
ordinary laptop CPU. It took four minutes to say one word. A server the
size of a fridge would have given the exact same answer, just faster.
That's a rabbit hole. This is where they go.
Inside: tools that do something surprising, with every number checked at
the source. The catch stated up front, so you learn it wants 1.7TB of
disk before you spend an evening on it. Explanations simple enough that
you don't need a CS degree, and specific enough that they actually run.
And the things that are just interesting, like why the lift never comes

You don't need to be a developer. You don't need an expensive computer.
Most of this runs on whatever you already own, and when it doesn't, that
gets said out loud.
