A document commonly referred to as Byrd's "secret diary" claims that during a flight over the polar region, he entered an unusual landscape and encountered an advanced civilization hidden beyond the known world. The story describes unfamiliar territory, advanced technology, and beings supposedly living in a world concealed from the surface. The alleged diary has never been authenticated and is widely regarded as disputed or fabricated. There is no verified historical evidence that Byrd discovered an underground civilization during Operation High jump. While officially a training exercise, the fleet retreated six months early after losing multiple PBM-5 Martin Mariner aircraft and encountering "unidentified" phenomena. Byrd later gave a chilling interview warning of craft that could "fly from pole to pole at incredible speeds," fueling decades of UFO theories. The weirdest evidence is Byrd's purported "lost diary," where he allegedly recorded flying into a lush, tropical interior of the Earth and meeting an advanced civilization. In early 2026, the case went viral again when a man claiming to be the last survivor, 99 year old Robert Johnson, broke his silence about "mysterious rock samples" and a "panicked flight" that supposedly led to the 1959 Antarctic Treaty. As of March 2026, the case remains the ultimate Antarctic conspiracy, officially solved as a scientific mission but haunted by missing flight logs and classified film. Whether it was a secret base or a hollow earth, the mission remains the primary catalyst for why the entire continent is now under a global military lockdown.
