Hey all, I hope you're as excited as I am to be bringing MARTY SUPREME actor, Kevin Loreque, in as our first industry guest this Sunday, January 18th, 9-11am PST. Please mark in your calendars that date and make sure to show up! And please memorize the following monologue so we can go deeper with the work on Sunday. These are Law and Order-inspired TV monologues. Feel free to watch some episodes of Law and Order to get acquainted with the style. (There's one for female-presenting and male-presenting actors, just memorize whichever one's appropriate for you) Female-presenting monologue: You said this was just to clear things up, so… okay. We were friends.
That’s how it started. We studied together. Walked home sometimes.
It wasn’t weird. And I keep going over it because I know you’re going to ask
if there was a moment where I said yes. There wasn’t. I didn’t say no either, but I didn’t say anything.
I froze. And I know that sounds bad.
Like I should’ve done something different. But I didn’t invite it.
I didn’t want it. And I don’t think being quiet means you’re okay with something. I think it just means you didn’t know how to make it stop. Male-presenting monologue: Before I answer anything, I need to know —
am I being accused, or is this about what happened to him? Because those are two very different conversations. I didn’t sell him anything. I gave him pills once — weeks ago — because he said he had a prescription and ran out. I didn’t think it was a big deal.
Everyone does that. I didn’t know he was taking more than that.
I didn’t know he was mixing stuff. And I definitely didn’t know tonight was going to end with an ambulance. You’re asking me like I should’ve predicted it. Like I should’ve known this was the moment everything would go wrong. I didn’t want anyone hurt. That’s not me. That’s not who I am.
