Hello everyone! My name is Aja (pronounced like "Asia") and I'm so happy to be here. I was encouraged to seek the counsel and spirituality of my ancestors by a close friend who did a tarot reading for me (I also use tarot to connect with my higher power). I grew up Christian and am an ex-evangelical. I have no ties to our history and I've always craved that and felt it was missing in my life. When I found out that my ancestors hail from West Africa, I started looking into our beliefs before slavery and colonization. Ever since I started researching Ifa and Orisa, there's been this presence calling me that Ive never felt before. Unsurprisingly, I relate most with Orisa Aja haha Again, I've never heard of or researched Ifa before so even seeing her name was a major shock, but beyond the name, Ive always loved connecting with nature/the world around me and animals, have an immense passion for healing and growth and supporting others to do the same...it felt like she was calling to me, like I'm meant to connect with her as I explore my connection to the ancestors. I hope I don't sound crazy or entitled 😅 I just ...I know what I felt. I hope to connect with my roots, our practices, our way of life. I want to come home. I know this is what I've been searching for since leaving the church...even while IN church as a child. I feel like I'm finally on the path to discovering my *true* connection to the divine through my ancestors and I couldn't be more excited to get started ☺️
