How to get involved: This is one of the strongest hands-on opportunities in the valley. More than 300 volunteers participate in programs including canyon cleanups, trail maintenance and monitoring, invasive-plant removal, native-plant work, visitor-center interpretation, trailhead ambassador work, desert tortoise care, hummingbird feeding, and site care. Some positions require BLM orientation or additional training. ⭐ Desert Love Native Plants ⭐ What they do: Desert Love works to make Southern Nevada native plants accessible, desirable, and understandable, connecting native landscaping with water conservation, wildlife habitat, ecological restoration, and community education. Mission / focus: Use education, conservation, and observation to help people understand native plants as resilient and ecologically important components of Southern Nevada landscapes, ultimately building a community that restores and stewards desert ecosystems. How to get involved: This is an unusually approachable hands-on opportunity. Volunteers can work with native seeds and plants, seed cleaning, transplanting, propagation, and plants destined for habitat-restoration projects. Desert Love advertises volunteer drop-ins on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9–11 a.m., with volunteers asked to sign up for notifications about when drop-ins are open. Volunteer with Desert Love ⭐ Nevada Native Plant Society ⭐ What they do: The Nevada Native Plant Society brings together people interested in Nevada's native flora through field trips, educational programs, outreach, and other activities that increase understanding and appreciation of the state's plants. Mission focus: Promote appreciation, preservation, and protection of Nevada's native plants and their habitats, while helping people understand the importance of native flora to healthy ecosystems. How to get involved: NNPS is entirely volunteer-run. Members can help lead field trips, conduct outreach, write for the newsletter, develop educational resources, give presentations, serve on committees or the board, assist the UNLV herbarium, and help expand programming in Southern Nevada. Nevada Native Plant Society volunteer opportunities ⭐ Mojave Bloom Nursery ⭐ What they do: Mojave Bloom is a business rather than a conservation nonprofit, but it occupies an interesting place in the conservation community. The Las Vegas nursery specializes in native, drought-tolerant, and desert-adapted plants while providing public education about sustainable desert landscaping.

⭐ Red Rock Audubon Society ⭐ What they do: Red Rock Audubon is Southern Nevada’s local Audubon chapter, working at the intersection of birds, habitat conservation, education, community science, stewardship, and advocacy. Mission / focus: Protect birds, their habitats, and the natural world while building a community of people who care about Southern Nevada’s birds and ecosystems. How to get involved: This is one of the strongest options for someone interested specifically in birds. Volunteers can participate in education and outreach, habitat stewardship and restoration, community science, conservation advocacy, bird walks, cleanups, invasive plant removal, and other projects. Some positions include training and onboarding. Volunteer: Volunteer with Red Rock Audubon ⭐ Wetlands Park Friends ⭐ What they do: Wetlands Park Friends supports Clark County Wetlands Park through education, conservation, community engagement, fundraising, and projects that improve the park and visitor experience. Mission / focus: Promote the conservation, awareness, and appreciation of Clark County Wetlands Park through educational programs and activities. How to get involved: Volunteers can assist with events, outreach/tabling, fundraising, photography and videography, creative projects, and other Park-related activities. Stewardship at the park can also involve trash removal, native planting, vegetation work, signage, and other hands-on projects. Mission / focus: Connect people of all ages and backgrounds to the outdoors by giving them opportunities to experience, learn about, and care for natural and urban outdoor spaces.
