@Angela Chandler-Norward Yeah nail trimming can be scary, but it’s very important to not let the nails grow too long. Better to risk a small amount of pain cutting the nails, than long term injury from letting them grow too long!

@Gracey Halberstadt The very first way was through mailed flyers!! Haha but that was 10 years ago and it didn’t work great then! The key now is using organic channels properly like Google Maps, and finding a good source of paid advertising as well that specifically fits you and the way you want to run your business.

@Lorraine Kruger Interesting. The puppy coat changes around 6-7 months to the adult coat. So I usually recommend waiting until after that point, but it’s only to save the cute fluff and sometimes color of their puppy coat (adult coat and puppy coat are often different colors). You would have to damage the hair follicle by burning their skin with a hot blade or rip the hair out with a dull blade to “damage” the coat. There is a misconception that cutting the hair changes the way it grows, but it has a lot more to do with the life cycle of the hair follicle. Some hairs are only active in the winter, some in the summer, and everything changes when they transition from puppy coat to adult coat.

@Lorraine Kruger of course! Another difference is the texture of the puppy coat vs adult coat. The adult coat usually has thicker hairs that are not as soft called guard hairs, so cutting the hair as that change is happening might give people the impression that cutting the hair “damaged” the coat and made it thick and less soft and fluffy
