Focus & PLAY + 3 Alternative ways to start Focused Heelwork
As promised 2 extra bonus modules are live! and 3rd one, very short one :) Before you start any training or regardless where you are un the heelwork journey watch the part on building focus and play! sometimes all you need is the better presentation of the food to make a massive change. Then we have 3 alternative ways to step 1. this is for you guys that wants to train faster or already started different way eg. left hand lure. ps. this is not a hollywood production but it will give you solid idea LOL Hope you enjoy it! i would try to combine those 2 into movement on your left with both contact points. Before that however worth to get bit more push and drive into kong hand- that will pay off later I promise!
Just started heelwork
Hi everyone, just started my first day of heel work, at the moment just for fun, this is something I have been working on alone, but I need to tidy it up more, (put the icing on the cake 😀) the main thing I am trying to gain is that Maggi has more focus on me, and need to look up more, I do short bursts in the garden for today,

yess!!! starting is the hardest part. Before you will go to very technical training invest some time into creating active focus through play (food and toy play) and activation exercise where the dog is giving you all even if toys and food are not presented - then heelwork training will be just easy!
Heelwork
Decided to continue heelwork in the kitchen, back to basics 😀 no distractions for Maggi she likes to nose about, Maggi is looking up at times so decided to swap food for a toy, but that was to much temptation for Maggi and she got to excited, went back to food treats but up the game to sausages, this worked! 🤣 Maggi was looking up and engaged, walked well at my side, I love when her head just comes around my leg 🥰

great! what you can try is to reward with food and then follow with the toy play second later. This way you get precision from the food training and enthusiasm from toy play all in the same time :) Over a time in you play strategy you need communication system and bit impulse control around the toys- it is broken down in detail in PWP but also I will include the philosophy in the upcoming motivation module.

I like the set up very much!!! combine head position exercise with this one - head angle should be the same - head position exercise head is lifted quite high- here bit lower. So dog have the dog on the left, both contact points are present together- kong hand and chin rest (when you add stability) - then you move forward. If you get once nice step mark and reward.
