Gratitude and Happiness
I literally listened to 3 min of this and knew I needed to share it with you! Scientists have been measuring the effects of Spiritual practices for more than thirty years, and there are now thousands of papers in peer-reviewed journals showing that people with a regular spiritual or religious practice tend to be healthier, happier and longer-lived than those without one, whatever they happen to believe. Spiritual practices work, and this is not a matter of opinion. Rupert Sheldrake looks at the practices themselves rather than the arguments around them: gratitude, meditation and prayer, mantras, ritual, holy days and festivals, sport, and pilgrimage. Most of them cost nothing and require no prior belief system. The thread running through all of them is CONNECTION. Meditation and prayer are complementary rather than rival, more like breathing in and breathing out. Rituals and festivals connect people to each other and to those who did the same things before them. Even sport, which is usually thought of as a supremely secular activity, brings people into the present more quickly than almost anything else. This talk was recorded live at Hollyhock on Cortes Island in British Columbia, 2026. What are the 5 things you are grateful for this week?

Thank you very much for your comments. Sheldrake’s theory seems interesting and reminds me of the interaction between humans and nature, and of how closely everything is interconnected – whilst I’m currently reading a book about the human digestive system – and the interplay that takes place there at a molecular level. We experience this and live with it every second of every day …
📢 Now available: The 11th edition of the Sustainable Development Report (SDR)!
Published by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)’s SDG Transformation Center, the SDR 2026 tracks and ranks the performance of all UN Member States on the Sustainable Development Goals (hashtag#SDGs). This year’s report highlights key priorities for the next decades of sustainable development and includes the 𝘚𝘋𝘎 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴, the 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴’ 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘜𝘕-𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮 (UN-Mi), and two new surveys focused on government efforts for the SDGs, challenges, and means for implementation. The SDR 2026 finds that progress on the SDGs remains significantly off track, with only 16% of targets projected to be achieved by the deadline. Yet, the vast majority of UN Member States remain committed to the SDG framework. Other key takeaways: 🔷 European countries again top the Index — Finland leads this year’s SDG Index, followed by Sweden (#2) and Denmark (#3). 🔷 East and South Asia have recorded the strongest advances on the SDGs. Among major economies, India (+18) and China (+14) show the largest rank improvements. 🔷 Goals related to cities, the environment, sustainable agri-food systems, and peace are particularly off-track. 🔷 Barbados again ranks first in commitment to UN-based multilateralism, while the United States ranks last for the third consecutive year. 🔷 Strengthening implementation is the defining priority for the next era of sustainable development. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eVu5v5r2 📖 Read the report: https://lnkd.in/esUmFdTJ 💡 Explore the SDG Index & Dashboards: https://lnkd.in/eqiKbGH 👉 Explore the UN-Mi Index: https://lnkd.in/epr_d9KA 📖 Read "Why the SDG Report 2026 Is the Most Urgent Wake-Up Call for Global Development" in Modern Diplomacy: https://lnkd.in/eXgDF6j8

Shocking. Sad. Frightening. … If you think about it off the top of your head—which of the IDG skills seem particularly important to you as you read this article? Is it “forgiveness”—the topic the CAUX IDG Forum will focus on this summer?
IDG for kids? Yes, IDG for kids
How are you dealing with parenting? :) Luckly enough I discovered IDG at the same time I became a conscious father. That is why I decided to write "Lila, Leo and the tangle", a series of 5 tales based on the Inner Development Goals, and bring back that present to the community. thanks for sharing @Paco Garcia Bravo What a wonderful initiative, and I love seeing all the inspiration the IDGs can spark. They serve as a guide—without pressure or effort—that supports the SDGs in a simple way. Thank you also for your interest in our little project, the “IDG KIDS Cardgame,” which we were able to test as a prototype in Geneva. Please feel free to reach out if you have time to give us some feedback on it. You can contact me or @Anne Koch or @Simone Erven

As this is just a prototype for now, we’d be happy to send it to you on request and would love to hear your direct feedback. I hope the next version will incorporate all your valuable suggestions... and that we’ll be able to add more language versions. See you soon :) Best wishes, Andrea
Happy Earth Day!
Share in the comments how you're celebrating Earth today! I'll go down to 'my' forest and river again and practice walking bare feet 😍

@Veronique Sikora Gasser How lovely! I love these little gardening joys. I'm going to tend to some little pumpkin seedlings until fall, and I can't wait to watch them grow :)
Making meaning together
Over time @Chris Burton has created a living hub to discuss inner development, sustainability and regenerative futures. This in person session took place in Switzerland on Tuesday evening. We discussed pressure, presence, and creating behavioral shift with the help of a facilitator. I was really happy to catch up with so many vibrant professionals! What conversations have you been having this week to nurture you and the social field?
