Mountain over Mountain
I recently wrote an e-mail about this concept of the 52nd hexagram in the i-Ching is it relates to my last name, Lichtenberger, and the nature of the mountain. This is a fun creative picture I drew in association with this topic. If anyone else is much into drawing here - feel free to share!

Sharing with ya'll first. I went through every line of the Art of War and related the concepts to Poker. This is a short teaser from Chapter 1 https://youtu.be/NMeJ0et0JGE?si=jJlrmcLUmQd4h8qr
Question about the courses...
Just finished reading thru the courses in the Classroom. Fascinating stuff @Andrew Lichtenberger Often when exploring esoteric topics (like the Tao), it can be hard to wrap my mind around it all. Curious if you could suggest any particular ways to apply these concepts beyond using the I-Ching? Any daily habits you've found valuable to integrate these teachings?
Hey Jo, thanks for checking them out! I do love reflecting on i-Ching passages as a means to integrate these concepts. In terms of how to apply the concepts - I suppose I just look for ways in which I can improve myself and then seek to alter my behavior in ways that would be in accordance with the principles that would be present in a "superior" self. I don't have any definitive day in and day out techniques but any sort of meditative time spent in self-reflection is going to be helpful in this regard. One such example is if I feel any way that I deem to be unpleasant, I ask myself "What would I have to believe in order to feel this way?" I fundamentally believe that our beliefs are what create our emotional dispositions. Often this reveals the mechanism which is that I'm harboring beliefs that someone else has, often unknowingly, imparted upon me. If I can make that self correction and return to acceptance, neutrality, and peace within myself, then I'm one step closer to mastery.
My pleasure and that makes 2 of us lol 🧙‍♂️
Flow State
Would love to hear everyone's thoughts, experiences and feedback about Flow State. I will start the discussion off with this: I came across this recent study supporting how Flow State may be a whole brain phenomenon. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1053811926003642?utm_source=chatgpt.com Basically, a fascinating new 2026 NeuroImage study compared brain activity during flow, boredom and anxiety using EEG. The finding that grabbed me: During flow, the brain showed the highest overall connectivity, flexibility and complexity of dynamic activity. Researchers describe flow as a highly adaptable, metastable state, where different parts of the brain remain specialized while dynamically coordinating with one another. In simple terms, being “in the zone” may not just be a feeling. It may represent a measurable state where the brain becomes extraordinarily good at working together without becoming rigid. That raises a question I love: Do we enter flow by trying harder... or by finally getting ourselves out of the way? What do you think?

Coherence, baby! I definitely feel like based on the research and my anecdotal experience that it’s a less is more type of thing. Letting it come to you by virtue of the hemispheric synchronization and increased heart <-> brain connection leads to heightened states of awareness and overall ability to make cleaner, clearer choices. An increase in the resolution of reality reduces the felt experience of randomness, and that’s where you get the ability to discern what the synchronicities mean for you.

Great points, Joey! I do think that different types of music can bring forth different player's best selves and that it's not a 1 size fits all kind of thing (what is, right?). I think of it as each unique lock needs a unique key to open it. Although I rarely listen to more hardcore types of music in general, I have had times in my life when rap music would put me in a state of mind that was conducive to and coherent for poker success. Often nowadays I listen to more mystical/dreamy types of music if anything at all, which I suppose Disney would qualify as. Maybe I need to explore it myself! I think if something makes you feel good it's often best to just roll with it. I heard a quote recently that resonates on this topic, "Don't overanalyze your pleasures." So if we're drawn to a particular type of music, certain clothing, necklace/bracelet etc - just let ourselves enjoy it and keep on living our best lives 😁

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Alex! These are great questions, and while I do have some thoughts on the matter, I can't prove any of it. I'm inclined towards believing in possibility even if it feels unlikely or impossible for humans to achieve - as far as the mechanism for how it would work, I do think co-creating our reality via the Hermetic principle of All being Mind makes sense as to how we could discern non-locally the next card. I also think it may just be an accessible part of reality via imagination, and perhaps it's not actually that crazy or wild of an accomplishment. I sort of made mention to this in the video but I think the more you normalize it as an experience for yourself, the more possible it becomes.
I think the theory of retro-causality is very plausible one to explain the temporal compression, for lack of a better, that may lead to these types of intuitive insights. I interpret it as cause & effect being bi-directional, so it's not just your "past" self that catalyzes the experience, it's also the present "future" self that draws that experience in. Reality is very strange lol - pleased to be scratching the surface with you all.
