I worked for a global pharma company for many years and the mark up on drugs supplied to the vet industry is distasteful. Prices are based on the 8-15 years it can take through research and development before it lands on a shelf Sadly the corporates restrict their vets to purchasing only the products on their buying list. This means vets pay way over the odds. Independents don’t have that restriction imposed. But then being smaller they do t get great deals I suspect that the same price hike applies for diagnostic equipment even if leased What I do know is that most vets I work with are at the end of their rope and don’t earn fortunes. Vets have one of the highest suicide rates in the uk. It’s a sad state of affairs. I would like them to investigate the big pharma and diagnostic's suppliers pricing We are seeing more vets break away from corporates and set up their own independent practices which is a good sign
