You're Not Built to Do This Alone I used to look at super successful people and see them as gifted individuals who stood out from the pack. When I got closer to some of them, I realised they were really good at gathering talent and genius around them. A lot of their results came from the team they'd built, not just their own individual skill. It's hard to do this by yourself. Sometimes you're not motivated, sometimes the ideas aren't flowing, sometimes you're just stuck in a funk. That doesn't mean you're destined to fail as an entrepreneur. Sometimes you're just dysregulated, or you need more social support. We're not really built to do this solo. What that looks like in practice I'm not even shooting this course by myself. I've got people behind the scenes feeding me lines, giving me good energy, sense checking what we're doing. There's a technical support side, but maybe more importantly there's a nervous system piece. If you consider yourself neurodivergent, look into body doubling: working alongside other people to help you start, maintain, and finish, just by having someone around keeping you accountable. Most of us create better with people around us. On my own I can shoot, edit and upload one video a day. Working with others, I can knock out five or six. How to apply it You don't need to hire staff or build a production team. Just find a way to involve one other person in your creative process. That could be in person, on a body doubling Zoom call, or simply having someone hold the camera while you shoot. If you find someone you work well with, book one day a week to create content together. If you're still stuck on what to actually create, go back to your week one journaling and bring some of those ideas into the session. What's next Let us know below where and how you're going to find someone to body double with. If you're also looking for a co-working buddy, start a thread in the comments.

I agree with you so much here!! I’ve just started working more closely with a local yoga studio and the group of teachers/instructors have agreed to have a drop-in session at the studio so we can check in with each other and help each other out if there’s anything we’re stuck on/need momentum on. Would it be a good idea to also share each others handles so we can follow and give each others posts some love? And see who might be a good co-working buddy? I’m following a few, but don’t have everyone. If you’re up for that, mine is @annekanadiafleming. Thanks everyone. And thanks Dane - I’ve absolutely loved your prompters and insights every day. ❤️

8/21 TRANSMISSION 2: COURAGE
Welcome to Week Two. The theme we're activating this week is courage. The word courage comes from the Latin, then the French, before finding its way into English. The word coeur means heart, but it also points toward our core, our spirit. To have courage is to operate from our spirit and our heart regardless of whether we feel fear, intimidation or anxiety. It is the ability to connect to who we really are and to communicate, express and take action from that place. Why is this important when we're talking about messaging? Because we're programmed on many levels to keep ourselves safe and to play small. Our reptilian and mammalian brains are designed for survival. They tell us to hide, not take risks and not endanger ourselves. Then we add human conditioning. Tribal status, belonging and fitting in all become tied to our sense of safety. Human beings are social primates. We're designed to fit in. So speaking your message, expressing yourself artistically and stepping into leadership all feel risky to the nervous system. And yet there is something in us that wants more than survival. If we want to thrive and contribute, we have to access courage. I've worked on sexuality and embodiment for twenty years and entrepreneurship for fifteen. Both are challenging. But I think the artistic path is even more vulnerable. It asks us to put our heart on the line. To share what's inside us. To reveal parts that are vulnerable or sensitive. To create work that genuinely moves people, we have to take a risk. We have to bare ourselves. We have to bare our soul. And we have to do it over and over again. The bigger risk isn't being judged. The bigger risk is reaching the end of your life and realising you never really expressed your gifts. That you never gave as much as you could. That you never fully showed up. Not making enough money would be disappointing. Not achieving certain goals might sting. But never expressing my real essence into the world would feel like a waste of my life.

@Mei Ouw the birth post is scheduled to go out tomorrow. Will post that here too. In the meantime, I’ve been trying some different dancing posts - this one today combining a bit of fun and ancestral wisdom. Just experimenting and trying different things at the moment. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dbp5nv3py8f/?igsh=MTVmMnZpcGZyNWNyYw==

16/21 SYSTEMS
Unpacking Your Resistance to Systems I hate systems. Growing up I was Mr. Fuck the System. Thrown out of school, a few run-ins with the law, an ADHD, AuDHD approach to life where I really didn't want to be told what to do. When I started trying to build a business, that identity created problems. Being overly married to the rebel identity, to the point where you can't even follow your own rules, makes it hard to build anything sustainable or impactful. What a system actually is Eventually I nerded out on systems and realised a diary is a system. A bus timetable is a system. The river and the trees are systems. Your liver, your brain, your nervous system are systems. A system is just a collection of parts connected together to serve a specific purpose. To grow an audience and have an impact, we need both habits, which are repeatable behaviours, and systems. None of that happens if our inner teenage rebel is still kicking and screaming at every step. How to work through it Journal on these four prompts to dig out any unconscious blocks: 1. Which systems have hurt you or let you down in life? School, medical, judicial, whatever comes up. 2. What actually happened? Write the detail. How did it feel, how was it harmful. 3. What did you decide about systems, structures, hierarchies or rule-based environments because of it? 4. How has that decision stopped you from getting your work out into the world? What's next When you're finished journaling, comment below with your biggest insight.

Having been a full-time mum for 9 years, systems in the home have been critical to survival and smooth running of the family. And I have a good brain for systems - I can visualize the flow of them. I was like this when I worked in corporate too, but I do have a block around tech and systems. I find myself using phrases like, I'm not good at tech. And I haven’t been as organised about data, folders and completing the repetitive but important tasks etc as I could be. Almost like I was sabotaging myself, even if though know how important and effective systems and rhythms are. So now making a much more conscious effort to put energy into doing this bit right, so it can save me stress and time! And make things run more smoothly for me.
