The WORST interview question I’ve ever been asked? KPMG. Decades ago. 😳 The HR manager looked at me and asked: “How likely do you think your cancer is to relapse?” Hello?! 😳 I had already explained that I had completed treatment for Stage 1 cancer, had been discharged, and was given a clean bill of health. And yet… that was the question. Of course, being the polite interviewee that I was, I answered professionally. But in my head, I was thinking: “How likely do YOU think you are to have a heart attack or get into an accident?” 😂 I mean… if we’re going to play the “let’s predict the future” game, shouldn’t we apply the same logic to everyone? Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t say it. But I definitely thought it. 😅 Some interview questions stay with you for years — not because they were insightful, but because you’re still wondering: “Did you really just ask me that?” 🤦🏻♀️
