Hello Ms. Carol, No, demons don't transfer by proximity or touch. Jesus and the apostles touched lepers, the dead, and the demonized constantly, and Scripture never once warns about catching a spirit from a sick person. The power went the other direction. "Virtue went out of him, and healed them all" (Luke 6:19). Demons gain access through sin and agreement (Eph. 4:27), never through nearness. The verse people use for this, 1 Tim. 5:22, is about not ordaining elders too hastily. Read verses 17-25 and you'll see it's about leadership, not contamination. As a believer, you carry the Holy Spirit into every room. "Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Keep praying before your shifts, but pray as someone sent, not as someone exposed. God hasn't given you a spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7), and caring for the sick is the very thing Jesus commended in Matthew 25:36.
