The pitch isn't the problem. The follow-up is.
Most people lose the deal after the first conversation, not during it. You say the right thing on the call. They nod. They say "sounds great, let's talk more." Then... nothing. No follow-up, or a follow-up that sounds like a robot reading a script. Here's the thing, the people actually making money aren't the best talkers in the room. They're the ones who keep the conversation alive without sounding needy. What's your go-to move when a lead goes quiet on you?

@Sharis Robinson That's the piece people skip, though clarity feels like a mindset thing, but it's really the reason the follow-up doesn't feel forced. Once you know exactly who you serve, you're not scrambling for the right words, you already know them. What helped you get clear, was it trial and error, or something that made it click?

The heavier the weight, the more present you have to be. I was at the gym this morning getting ready for Black Women Sell Live® next month. The theme is Fight Back, so the arms have to be right. But we're deep in event prep. I was voice noting a team member and grabbed a weight without paying attention. It was heavy. My wrist let me know immediately. Even just picking it up required all of me, and I hadn't given it. Business works the same way. We're doing so much that it's easy to write the email, build the campaign, or give a client feedback without ever really arriving. Depending on how much weight you're carrying, that will injure you. I've been in business almost a decade. Every time the weight went up, the presence required went up with it: More revenue More team More clients More people depending on me This is why you train. So when you're finally strong enough to carry something heavy, you can hold it without getting hurt. Here's what I've learned about who's watching you while you lift: My gym has 4-5 of us at a time, and trainers circle the floor watching form I used to go somewhere with thousands of members and nobody ever checked on me If I got hurt there, that was on me This morning the scale said my weight went up. My coach reads the detail, not the top line, so we could see it was muscle Without the right eyes on you, you'll read your own numbers wrong. I've been in stadiums with 40,000 people that felt intimate, because someone in that room had eyes on me. When you come to Black Women Sell Live® next month: There will be a sister with eyes on you When you say you're fine, she's going to look twice Coaches will be in the audience asking if the material is landing We've built in time for you to actually implement If the weight feels heavy right now, don't quit. Change your training. Look at who's around you and ask why nobody caught it sooner. Show up for your coaches and ask them the questions. Our mastermind is running a 30-day health challenge leading into the event, and I'm about to take mine even more seriously.

I am soooo looking forward to Sept 24th…
Blessings! I’m Kenyatte Tidwell, founder of Capacity Advantage Group. The simplest way to explain what I do? I help organizations grow. The longer version, because there is ALWAYS a longer version, is that I own an investigative research, strategic planning, and systems consulting firm. I work primarily with growth-stage small businesses and nonprofits to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges, and build the systems, strategies, and capacity needed to make growth sustainable. I’m also an INFJ, which probably explains a lot. I’m naturally a researcher, strategist, connector, problem-solver, and professional question-asker. I tend to notice patterns, think deeply about people and systems, and look for the bigger picture behind the problem. Give me a goal, a challenge, or a “Kenyatte, I’m trying to figure out how to…” and my brain immediately starts looking for pathways, possibilities, resources, connections, and solutions. Right now, I’m in the middle of strategically positioning Capacity Advantage Group and getting VERY clear about how I communicate what I do, who needs it, and how the right people can easily recognize when they should hire me or refer me. That’s a big part of why I’m here in Speak Your Way to Cash. I want to get better at turning the relationships and networking I already enjoy into healthy partnerships, active referrals, and consistent business. Now for the fun part, because I actually want to get to know people in here: What do you do, and what kind of person or opportunity makes you immediately think, “SEND THEM TO ME!”?

I had the pleasure to speak on a 7-figure panel and I was asked.. “What did you change to make 7-figures?”
