No hang this Thursday, and some news (please read)
Hey everyone, Two things, straight to it. First: there's no Blues Hang this Thursday. I've taken it off the calendar. Second: I've decided to close this Skool group. It shuts on Sunday 6 September. Here's why. I've spent the summer building something new. It's the biggest thing I've ever made for blues guitarists, it's built on my C.A.S. method, and it needs my full attention. I'd rather do one thing properly than two things halfway, and lately this group has been getting the halfway version of me (if that). You deserve better, and so does the new thing. I can't say much more yet. Details very soon, and you'll hear them before anyone else. What I can tell you now: being a member of this group counts. When doors open on the new thing, there's something special for the early birds, and for you it won't expire. Whenever you join, you’ll receive the bonus. Two housekeeping bits: - Save anything you've posted here that you want to keep before the 6th, because Skool doesn't keep it for us - Everything now lives on my email list and my daily lessons on Instagram and Facebook. If you're not on the list, you can sign up for it and get my Blues Legends Lick Pack for free here: https://benjohnsen.com/blueslicks Thank you, genuinely, and I look forward to seeing you in the new thing :) More very soon, Ben

@Paul Bridge Firstly, Paul, awesome job for just plucking up the courage and posting. That is a huge step. I've always found the student who record themselves the post and just post frequently make the most amount of progress. Like @Iain Brown said, I'd love to see a more recent video. Maybe noodling over a Blues in Am?
Sorry for the short notice...
Hey guys, Apologies for the short notice. I can't attend this week's or next week's live hangs. I have a random Thursday pub gig next week, and I forgot about a social event my wife's attending this evening. So I'm on kiddy duty! However, I've created a Zoom link that requires no host. Fingers crossed it works. So what this means is you can join the call and hang out with your fellow members, socialise, and get to know each other. That'll be for this week and next week. I'm going to record some video tutorials tomorrow and Monday and will post them for you guys to look at, so when I come back, I'd like the call to be geared around answering your questions. Enjoy this evening's call. I hope it works.
A motivator to practice effectively for me.
I had quit guitar a year and a half ago because it was hurting my hand. So I took up piano keyboard instead. But I missed guitar and came back to it in late June. I've since found ways to ease the stress on my left hand. Well, while practicing piano I was quite disorganized and found it hard to stay motivated. It dawned on me one day to make a record of what I was practicing and how I was using my time. So I put it in a spreadsheet. One surprise I got from this is that the spreadsheet turned out to be quite a motivator also. I'm posting this in case anyone finds this helpful. The video explains how to use it. A motivator to practice effectively for me. A motivator I call My Gamify success: This is one way I'm successful at acquiring additional motivation to practice, and practice effectively. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-tPQuBDbJ8 Blank spreadsheet template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DNGNmAF8M9xiAAfKVdox1_eydozjhNmM/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=111625404969229748291&rtpof=true&sd=true

I’ve been listening to a lot of different artists at the moment. Johnny Winter I’ve been enjoying coming back to. Jeff Healey too. I’ve also been diving into T. Bone Walker which has been cool. And then I was feeling nostalgic so I started listening to some AC/DC again!
