🌳 The Tree That Stayed Green There once was a woman who felt as though she had been walking through a drought for a very long time. Life had changed in ways she hadn't expected. Some relationships had disappointed her. Prayers seemed unanswered. The future felt uncertain. She looked around and saw other women flourishing and wondered, Why does my life feel so dry? One morning, she walked beside a river and noticed something. The summer had been unusually hot. The grass was brown and brittle, but one large tree beside the water was still beautifully green. She stopped beneath it and looked up. Its strength wasn't coming from what was happening above the ground. Its strength was coming from where its roots had grown. And she remembered Jeremiah 17:7–8. The person who trusts in the Lord is like a tree planted by the water, sending its roots toward the stream. When heat comes, it doesn't have to be afraid. Even in drought, it can remain green and continue producing fruit. She realized something that morning. God never promised there wouldn't be heat. He never promised there wouldn't be drought. He promised that when she placed her trust in Him, the drought didn't have to determine the condition of her soul. So she whispered, "Lord, grow my roots deeper than my circumstances." Nothing around her immediately changed. But something within her did. She stopped measuring God's goodness by the weather surrounding her and began trusting the Living Water beneath her. And slowly, she became like that tree. Rooted when life was uncertain. Green when circumstances felt dry. And still bearing fruit. 🌿💜
