Applied for early social security at age 62 on August 3rd...
The Denver, Colorado is reviewing my application and they say they will complete in 30 days. I do not work anymore and my last 2-3 years income was less than $3,000/year. I have two minor boys (age 17 & 14) and I have a scheduled appointment over the phone on Sept. 3rd to apply for children benefits. I am married so I plan to ask for child in care benefits for my wife during the September 3rd interview. Simple question, how can I prepare for the September 3rd meeting? How is the Denver district office (should they finish within 30 days)?

That was a quick answer. Thank you so much! Is the figure on my latest social security statement that says "total family benefits cannot be more than: $..... " my total family maximum? Is there a family simulation calculator (regular social security+children+wife/child care) here on the site or can you help me calculate this if I tell you my numbers from my latest statement? It does not have to be 100% accurate, just a ballpark figure...

Hello Ed! I got a letter in the mail from social security administration addressed to my sons c/o me. It says they need for our meeting I should have ready "a bank statement or checkbook for the account the payment must be deposited". Is this so the know the banking information for the direct deposit of the social security payment? They also wrote generally talking about photocopies "they can accept a photocopy of a for W-2, tax return, or medical report". I have no W2 forms because I did not work. My children are in good health so I do not see why they would need a medical report. Should I also prepare my tax return for my scheduled phone interview? Appreciate any input to help this go smoothly for us.
