Introduction
Hi everyone, I’m Erika! I spent 12 years in the military in supply, food service, and logistics operations, where I developed a strong foundation in accountability, process structure, and execution. Recently, I transitioned into corporate finance and have been working as an AR/AP Specialist for a little over a month, handling full-cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations. I’m currently in the early stages of learning SQL and BigQuery because I want to bridge my logistics background with financial data. My goal is to streamline our ledger workflows, automate reporting, and build the analytics foundation needed to eventually pursue a Master’s in FP&A and become a high-impact asset to my company. Looking forward to connecting, learning from everyone here, and seeing how you all apply data tools to accounting!

Welcome Erika! Great to have you here, and sounds like you’re on a fantastic career path. My videos on here and my YouTube videos focus on financial data in SQL, Power Query and Power BI which I believe is a strong foundation to build on. Good luck with your projects!

@Anna Nova great question — and you're right that nothing is ever 100% guaranteed. What I meant is keeping AI inside your company's own secure environment rather than pasting data into consumer tools. The practical baseline most finance teams work to: 1. Keep data in your own tenant — e.g. M365 Copilot's enterprise data protection means your prompts and data aren't used to train the model. 2. Least-privilege access — the AI only sees what that user is already allowed to see. 3. Governance & logging — approvals, audit trails, no client data leaving the environment. Connecting AI to data via MCP isn't automatically "secure" — there have already been real vulnerabilities out there. It's only as safe as it's configured correctly - you're right to stay sceptical.
Power BI sales dashboard tutorial
Hi friends, In this tutorial we use the cleaned data from the Power Query video and create a sales dashboard in Power BI. The cleaned dataset is also available for download. Enjoy building!

Excel Power Query tutorial
hi Everyone, I have posted a Power Query tutorial. I have used Claude to check the steps and then gone through data cleaning in Power Query. There is a link to download the data in the description of the video in Youtube. In my next video, this data set will be used to create a sales dashboard in Power BI. Also check out my other data videos on SQL and careers in data as well.
Practical SQL series - Part 1 available
hi everyone, I am working on a practical SQL series on Youtube - focused on relevant analysis queries and using the free SQL Playground. The link to the first video is below - it recaps the basics and moves into useful financial calculations. The series starts basic and will build up to professional analysis queries. Enjoy!
