Affiliate marketing is when you recommend another company's product or service and earn a commission when someone purchases through your affiliate link. You don't necessarily have to create your own product! Here's how it works: 1️⃣ Choose something to promote. Look for a product or service that solves a real problem for a specific group of people. 2️⃣ Join an affiliate program. Some businesses offer free affiliate programs. Others have eligibility requirements. 3️⃣ Get your unique affiliate link. That link helps the company track purchases referred by you. 4️⃣ Create helpful content. You might create tutorials, demonstrations, reviews, comparisons, or videos answering questions about the product. 5️⃣ Earn commissions from qualifying sales. The company tracks eligible purchases according to its affiliate terms. Here's something beginners need to understand: You still need to learn marketing. Having an affiliate link doesn't automatically bring customers. You need to learn how to attract people, communicate value, and build trust. Here are 5 beginner-friendly possibilities: 1️⃣ Digital products Designs, stickers, photos, templates, printables, guides, ebooks, planners, checklists, tutorials and other products people can download online. 2️⃣ A service Think about something you already know how to do that someone else needs help with. Bookkeeping, editing, design, social media help, organization, consulting, the list goes on. 3️⃣ Affiliate products You recommend someone else's product or service and can earn a commission when someone purchases through your affiliate link. 4️⃣ Physical products You can sell handmade items, print-on-demand products or other physical products online. 5️⃣ Your knowledge Coaching, consulting, workshops, memberships and courses can turn something you know into an offer that helps somebody else. Here's where beginners get stuck: They try to figure out what EVERYBODY wants to buy. Start somewhere simpler. Ask: What do I know? What can I do? What problem can I help somebody solve?
