Gym advice
Hey everyone, I’m currently getting ready to start EMT school and I’m working toward becoming a firefighter. I’m pretty locked in with the gym right now and I train consistently, but honestly, all I’m doing at the moment is normal weight training. I’m looking to start training specifically for the physical demands of the fire academy and eventually the job itself. For those of you who are firefighters, would anyone be willing to share their workout plan or give me some advice on what I should start incorporating? I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have already gone through the academy. I’m trying to prepare myself the right way from the beginning. Thank you!

@Brandon Garcia I don’t a strict structure but I do 30 min workouts on shift made up of push ups, burpees, and air squats. 5alarmtraining on insta has some good workouts to try and they’re just bodyweight, no gym or weights needed. Then on my off days I try to do an arm and leg day with HIIT after. My cardio is the stairmaster and attack bike at the beginning of my gym session. Usually 10 min on the stairmaster at lvl 6. As for HIIT I just put together a circuit of Sled pull into rope pull into kettlebell carry into a sled push and finishing with a 250 meter row for 3-6 rounds depending on what you feel you’re able to do

Also do all this with a weighted vest, I recommend starting light with about 20 Ibs on and move your way up to about 40-50 Ibs to simulate gear or if you can find turnout gear, workout in that
