Hey there fellow pilots! My name is Charlie Seitz, based in Naples, FL. I am a 50 year old yacht broker and newly minted CSEL who has been flying on and off since 1997 and decided last year to just go for it. At 6’6” and 275lbs, I’m not exactly the size of your FAA average pilot. I’ve lost 60lbs in the last 10 months with the help of Zepbound, which has been great - I weigh less now than when I graduated college. The fat loss has come with a fair bit of muscle loss too. I’m trying to figure out how, at this age, to rebuild muscle, keep the weight off without $500/month drugs, with a pile of joints that don’t work like they used to. I anticipate doing Cirrus transition training and CMEL soon, maybe adding in an SIC credential too. My goal is contract flying, not airlines. I’d rather fly a guy and his family around in his airplane than 120 sweaty, grouchy tourists in a 737. At my age, I wouldn’t get very far on the seniority list before hitting mandatory retirement anyway.
