NEW Meta Ads Conversion Playbook Dropped
Meta released a new playbook for showing online ads. Here are the top 3 things you need to know to make your ads perform best: - Don't repeat the same ad content: Showing the exact same video or picture in multiple places in your ad account as active ads hurts your results and raises costs. Put similar ads together in one group, and add a variety of different pictures and videos so Meta can show the right thing to the right person. - Let Meta machine learning find your audience: You don't need to pick tiny, specific groups of people for your ads. Using broad targeting—like just picking a location, age range, or gender—lets Meta's computers figure out who wants to see your ad. Small businesses that use broad targeting save around 12% on costs! - Use tall, vertical videos: Make your video ads tall instead of square or widescreen. Most people watch videos on their phones using Instagram Reels and Stories, so tall vertical videos get the most views.

@Rr Rr mostly I see that’s is helpful in new accounts where things are just starting. Generally though I’ve seen just picking one or two options can be helpful. 👌 Mostly for that though I like to use a value added lookalike audience if possible.

@Rr Rr Great question, and this is actually one of the biggest mindset shifts from the old Meta ads playbook that media buyers used like 10 years ago to the current one — so I want to give you a more thorough answer. Short version: don’t test audiences against each other. Test creative frameworks inside ONE broad ad set. Here’s why, straight from Meta: 1. Meta’s official best-practices framework (Performance 5) lists “account simplification” as pillar. I highly recommend reading Performance 5. Fewer ad sets with broader audiences = more conversion data per ad set = the AI exits learning phase faster and optimizes better. Splitting your budget across Custom / Lookalike / Broad ad sets does the opposite — each one starves for data. 2. Meta has a Help Center article literally titled “Combine ad sets and campaigns to reduce audience fragmentation.” It’s such a common mistake that Ads Manager has a built-in automated rule to detect it and merge your ad sets for you. 3. Your Custom and Lookalike audiences already live INSIDE broad. So a 3-way audience test means those ad sets overlap and compete against each other in the auction — Meta’s overlapping audiences doc warns this hurts delivery. The way delivery works now, your creative IS the targeting. The hook, the angle, the message — that’s what tells the algorithm who to find. So put your testing budget where it actually produces learnings: distinct creative frameworks in one consolidated broad ad set. That test compounds. An audience test just fragments. Shock Hook To Creator Imitation
These work great to grab attention and then deliver a direct response message. Use a clip that has viral views with shocking imagery like the cow kicking the guy in the hook. Then the creator Imitates the action shoot, following through like the clip just happened to him and he delivers a short direct response message. This is one of the better examples I’ve seen because the direct response message is short and sweet. This format is for people with short attention spans so keep the direct response short and to the point. I’ve seen these around a ton and also have published some for clients with really good success when they are thought out.

Metaphorical B-roll
Shoot b-roll of something that represents a message you want to convey. Simple but depending on the metaphors and visuals of the shot it makes for a simple video ad:
