昨天在電梯口遇到加州鄰居，就順便聊了一下。 我們聊到現在住在日本，但工作還是在台灣，所以我想表達我們常常需要台灣、日本兩邊跑。 我當下說的是： We need to go back to Taiwan and come back to Japan. 鄰居其實有聽懂我的意思，然後她很自然地回了一句： go back and forth 我當下有聽到，但沒有完全懂。回來查了之後才知道，原來： go back and forth between A and B 就是「在 A 和 B 之間來回」。 所以更自然可以說： Our business is still in Taiwan, so we have to go back and forth between Taiwan and Japan. 我很喜歡這種感覺：我先用自己會的英文把意思講出去，對方聽得懂，然後她再用更自然的英文講一次給我聽。這種在真實對話裡聽到的用法，真的很容易記住。🙌 後來鄰居說： We don’t have a car in Japan. 我當下想回「我們也是」，但腦中還在想到底要用 either 還是 neither。 結果我發現，對方平常聊天時很常直接回： Us too! 這讓我印象很深，因為我以前會覺得否定句後面一定要很小心選 either / neither，但真實聊天裡，對方就是很自然地說 Us too! 如果想講得比較完整、比較穩妥，也可以說： We don’t either. 或是最省腦、很萬用： Same here! 另外，我還想跟她說： 「這間學校就在我們學校對面。」 我當下很容易把「對面」直接想成 crossed，但後來查了一下才知道，正確又自然的是： This school is across from our school. 如果想強調「就在正對面」，可以說： This school is right across from our school. 所以這次又多學到一個很好用的 chunk： across from = 在……對面 例如： The café is across from the station. 咖啡店在車站對面。 The school is right across from ours. 那間學校就在我們學校正對面。 👉這次最想記住的 chunks： - go back and forth = 來來回回 - go back and forth between A and B = 在 A、B 之間來回 - Us too! = 我們也是 - We don’t either. = 我們也沒有 - Same here! = 我也是／我們也是 - across from = 在……對面 這次最大的收穫是，我發現自己不用等到每一句都想得很完整才開口。先把意思說出去，對方通常都聽得懂，而且有時還會自然地回一個更道地的說法給我。像這次的 go back and forth，就是我先說、她聽懂，再講一次更自然的版本給我聽。

這次是我第一次嘗試透過「聽歌＋唱歌」，把歌曲變成自己的英文 input！ 我有一個很喜歡的美國樂團叫 LANY，中秋連假剛好來台灣開演唱會，目前還沉浸在演唱會裡出不來😭 今天想來分享一首歌裡的一小段歌詞～ 聽的時候剛好學到了一個chunk：✨ sleepless night 這時候我就在想，可不可以說： I just sleepless last night. ❌答案是不行的！ 因為 sleepless 是形容詞，不能直接當動詞用。 與其單獨記sleepless，AI叫我直接把 sleepless night 當成一個語塊記起來！ 後來我又問 AI： 「那我可以說 I had a sleepless night last night cuz I drank coffee too late. 嗎？」答案是可以的✅ 另外也整理了幾個很生活化的說法，可以參考看看，不需要硬記下來～ ① I couldn’t sleep last night because I had coffee too late. 😴 ② That late coffee gave me a sleepless night. ☕️ ③ I was up all night because I drank coffee too close to bed.🛏️ ⚠️我都沒有問AI sleepless night的意思，而是透過聽歌還有跟AI對話猜測這個chunk的意思！ 最後附上這首歌 “Thru These Tears” 的 MV 版＋演唱會版 https://youtu.be/ZkWTuvdFbJI?si=PyqkNKtGSDHS_0-j 可能這陣子都會利用歌曲來分享一些我學到的英文 畢竟還沒從演唱會走出來😭

今天在練習雅思口說的時候，其中講到一句： 💬 This means they have to keep up with new technology. 當時就在想：「keep up with 是『跟上』的意思嗎？」 好巧不巧，果然是！ 但這時候心裡又冒出一個疑惑： 那它跟 follow 差在哪裡？這時候透過 ChatGPT 得知⬇️ 🚶🏻 Follow me. 🚶🏻‍♀️ = Come with me / Go where I go. 🏃🏻‍♀️💨 Keep up with me! 😩 = Don’t fall behind!
