If an attorney or courthouse tells an executor: “We’re waiting for Letters…” They are probably NOT talking about something arriving in an envelope from Grandma. 😄 “Letters” is a term commonly used for the court-issued document showing that someone has been formally authorized to act for an estate. You may hear: → Letters Testamentary → Letters of Administration → Letters of Authority → Letters of Appointment The terminology varies by state. And this is one reason a bank may say: “We need your Letters.” What estate-planning or probate word completely confused you the first time you heard it?

Hi Lauren, thank you for all the help you you want to give. I’ve been having a few questions in my mind about EIN that I already have such as the Estate EIN the Sol prop, I have a foreign grantor. And of course, revocable. And irrevocable if I have another one, I can’t think of it right now. The main thing I’m doing right now is my 1099. I’ve been working on those for a while. I have a revocable and an irrevocable trust open at the bank and unfortunately, I failed to put anything in it except for some cash. I have a house and I have a car that I’d like to put in trust I have the deed and I have the info for the car title

Oh, and the question I wanted to ask, I was hoping that I signed my signature card correctly. I signed as the trustee on my signature card, for my revocable trust I was confused because I thought I heard somewhere that you were suppose to use the name of your trust on your signature card
