Skeletal age assessment using radiographs is the tried and true method, but it is not always the most practical since it requires access to medical equipment and trained technicians. As such, many use PHV and other markers as more feasible options.

PASSED MY CSCS EXAM!
Hello everyone! I was part of the original cohort in 2025, and today I passed my CSCS exam! I would like to give a huge thank you to Dr. Goodin and a few of my classmates (they know who they are) for helping me throughout this journey. I failed both the Scientific Foundations and Practical/Applied sections on my first attempt back in February. My advice to anyone still working toward passing is: don’t worry about how many attempts it takes, and don’t compare your journey to those who passed on their first attempt. Let gaining knowledge and truly understanding the material be what drives you to keep going. A few things that helped me: Trust your gut. Understand why, not just what. Study Dr. Goodin’s study guides.

Like other populations, if they stop training, the gains will cease and their strength will return to where it was before starting training. Where children are concerned, although they may stop training for a while, they may still gain some strength, but this strength gain could be attributable to growth-related biological strength gains that have nothing to do with training.
