My Vintage Guitars
I finally got the chance to share my vintage guitars. The acoustic has severe fret wear so it’s difficult to play (plus I’m terrible with acoustic guitar😅) and I’m not much of a bassist, but I tried.

Cool gear
live performance
i saw 2 friends do a 1 1/2 hour show. i enjoyed it and respect them both as songwriters and musicians. Each of them had a phone mounted on the mic stand. it amazed me how dependent we have become on this technology. i find it distracting when someone has to scroll in the middle of a song. They each did songs separately and a few together including some originals.. I wonder why it would be so difficult to learn enough material for such a short set shared by 2 people..?? i have seen super talented people use their phone when performing their own material also.. being mesmerized by their performance, until they look down and scroll the phone. Breaks the spell... i also have seen when they have to start a song over because they got lost when scrolling... maybe I'm old school, but i just dont get it. Now i also have a friend who takes requests for over 500-600 songs. you text your request via his app from the audience, he gets your request on stage while he is playing, and plays your request next. I would not expect him to not need a tablet for song keys and lyrics.. i have seen him play for 3 hours straight. he has midi, pedals and is pretty much a one man band. he is awesome. what are your thoughts ???

I use an iPad just for lyrics and I use an app called Gighard which has an auto scroll feature that you can speed up or slow down. All of the songs we do are in that app and they’re all set to the speed I need so I never have to touch it. Pretty cool app maybe you could tell your friends. I just can’t remember lyrics like I use to

They’ve already thought about it and likely implemented it but that’s for a political discussion not here. Haha!!

Teaching Guitar
a friend of mine who teaches guitar wrote this. Not everyone who plays well is a good teacher. "Learning music/guitar is not difficult. Too many teachers make it difficult. My experience is there are four kinds of teachers. The guy who can strum a few chords and thinks he can teach, the guy who teaches because he needs the money, the guy who wants to show you how smart he is and then, the teacher I hope I am, who wants to pass on knowledge so the student can eventually teach himself. Teach them in such a way that they can tap into their innate creativity."

I prefer your method. I’ve had lessons from several people and they’ve all been good but some talk over your head and they are too difficult to follow.

I’m not sure at my age I’ll ever pass the teacher but getting more comfortable with memorizing the fret board the chords in each key, what works and what doesn’t and when it’s ok if it doesn’t work to play it anyway. That’s where I want to be. And to be able to accompany myself. I’m a singer who wants to play guitar also
