It's based on Homer's Iliad, one of the greatest stories ever told. When I read it, I was surprised to find they'd cut a key character from the film entirely: The King of Argos, Diomēdēs boēn agathos (translated: Diomedes of the War Cry) He'd been cut because he'd steal the spotlight from shining Achilles. The Iliad is composed of 24 books, and Achilles only starts fighting in book 20. Until that point, it is Diomedes who is leading the charge - in his aristea. Among all the heroes in the Iliad, it is only Diomedes who fights directly against the Gods - his spearpoint drawing blood from Aphrodite's wrist. Later he lances Ares, the god of war - sending him running from the battlefield. He was with Odysseus in the belly of the Trojan Horse as it was wheeled into the doomed city of Troy. I enjoyed reading the Iliad so much that I had to research what happened to each of the key characters after the war. Swift-Footed Achilles, as we know, died from the arrow wound to his heel. Mighty Ajax succumbed to madness, and fell upon his own sword in shame. Far-Ruling King Agamemnon went home after the war - only to be stabbed and drowned in his own bath by his adulterous wife. Cunning Odysseus yearns to return home, but the Gods blast him with storms and perils of every kind - as we see in the Odyssey. But what of Diomedes? We don't really know! His story was lost because when the Trojan War ended, the World ended with it. This 400 year Dark Age is known as the Bronze Age Collapse. Every major civilization of the Mediterranean - civilizations that had survived for hundreds of years, flickered - and went out. The Egyptians, the Mycenaean Greeks, the Hittites, the Assyrians, the Canaanites. All gone.

Been bashing my brain for days to figure out how to do the launch trailer for my upcoming novel "Diomedes of the War Cry" Was driving home, when I got it ⚡️ One of the most heartbreaking moments in the Trojan War is the "arming scene" of Priam, the aged king of Troy. Arming Scenes are a whole thing in the Iliad: the Achilles arming scene, the Agamemnon arming scene etc. are epic and powerful moments. But the arming scene of Priam..is painful. He sees his city burning, and he knows the Greeks will burst through his door at any moment. He starts to don his breastplate, but the straps hang loose upon his old bones, bereft of vigor. His sword belt sits askew on his aged hips. He used to a fighter once.. but those days are only a memory now. This is the perfect scene for my "Reveal Trailer" The following monologue is from Priam to his daughter Cassandra (the prophetess) === Scene: Priam weeping as he puts on his armor for the last time, and speaking he says: "Would that I heeded your warning, dear child. I should never have let that cursed horse into our city. Now, Troy burns because of me. In my final moments, I have but one consolation.. That the men who did this to us, will know only suffering! Shining Achilles, who killed my son Hector and dragged his body by his heels three times round the walls of Troy - he lays dead, never to return to his beloved father, Peleus. The far ruling king, Agamemnon will return to his home in Mycenae only to be butchered like a pig by his own dear wife and her lover. Mighty Ajax, who slaughtered so many of my men - died by his own hand, falling upon his own sword in shame for what he had done. His body a feast for dogs, crows and the flies. Odysseus, cunning Odysseus - who is surely the architect of this foul trickery - thinks that he will return home after the conclusion of this war. Little does he know that ten years will pass as his ships and men are battered this way and that by the will of Poseidon. And what of Diomedes - the man who raised his hand to strike at the immortal Gods!

It's easy to lock in and make progress But after a few weeks, the momentum evaporates. Old habits come back You spend a week or more in the swamp Eventually, the spark of motivation comes back And the cycle repeats The first thing you want to do is discover your "Canary Habits" Habits that are the first to fall off when you're entering a downwards spiral.
