@Dan Mowinski great niche!
📺 A question for parents...
I'm curious about your family's approach to educational YouTube content, especially for younger children. I'd love to hear your thoughts: - At what age did you start letting your child watch educational videos on YouTube? - How much screen time do you usually allow for educational content? - Which educational YouTube channels or programmes do your children enjoy the most? - What made you choose those channels? (For example: educational value, entertainment, trust, recommendations, production quality, or something else.) - Have you found any channels that genuinely helped your child learn or develop new skills? I'm asking because I'm researching children's educational content and would really value hearing about real experiences from parents, rather than just relying on online articles. Thank you in advance for sharing your insights! 😊

Unplug & Play: Connection
The speakers are finalized and I’ll continue introducing them over the next few weeks. One thing I wanted to focus on with this summit is building connection and we will do that through a mix of live sessions, hands-on sessions and pre-recorded to watch at your leisure. The summit runs from August 16-22 and the full agenda will be posted next week. What type of session would you be most interested in?

Welcome New Members!
We're thrilled to welcome so many new faces to Connected Through Play! The energy you're all bringing is exactly what this community is about real connection, creativity, and showing up for the children in our lives. @Michaela Bennett is here with three energetic boys, 18 months, 5, and 7, and she's looking for fresh ways to keep them entertained and engaged throughout the day. @Heather Newell, you've got a similar lineup with four at home ranging from 9 months to 14, and you're seeking ideas to get them playing and involved maybe you two should connect! @Carol-Ann Mimeault-Simard is creating meaningful screen-free moments with 1-year-old Melodie. @Laura Blancaver has a 2-year-old and another on the way, eager to explore fresh activities and @Clarissa Ecob, you're in the same boat with a 3-year-old who loves trying new things and a 6-month-old, the three of you will find so much common ground here. @Evelyn Wedin is a brand-new lead teacher to 3- and 4-year-olds, and she's diving into crafts, reading, and crochet alongside her classroom work. @Barbara DeLarwelle, you run a home daycare with children from 15 months to 8 and love sensory bins and tuff trays why not connect with @Evelyn Wedin and swap ideas! @Shayne Hyman-Train is part of a multigenerational household, helping with three little ones, 10 months, 2.5, and a newborn, and is focused on skill development through play. @Faith Charis is here for the games, puzzles, and crafts with her inquisitive crew, and @Sally Smith wants to learn how to be more engaging, you're all chasing the same goal. @Rosie Loughead is gathering new ideas for her two granddaughters, ages 3 and 4. @Kerry Sternstein and @Carol Gardner are both here for their grandkids too you three should form a grandparent think tank! You may want to reach out to @Anna Murrietta who runs the Grandparents Corner community and is also speaking at the Unplug & Play summit next month.

Storytime
Here’s a fun activity I would play with my kids when we traveled. It ties in great with yesterday’s prompt of myth making and storytelling. When playing at home, everyone builds on the story by adding a sentence or idea. I would designate one person as scribe. The scribe writes down the story and reads it back at the end and also plays. For our online version, I’ll start the story and everyone gets to add a sentence. Rules: - One sentence at a time - You can add more than one sentence but they can’t be in a row. - Copy the existing story into a comment and add your sentence. Story ends at 11:59 pm CDT today. I’ll start. Tagging a few to get us started. Thanks @Allan R. for the first sentence. @Daniel Cavaretta @Adam Formanek @Betty Jo Winters @Mayelice Castro @Andrea Quintal Portas @Anna Brown @Janell Bitton @Blue Mojo @Celia Kibler @Charlie Svensson @Aurelie Delahalle @Gus Gray @Max Orlewicz @Lisa Vanderveen @Mukkove Johnson

It was a beautiful spring day and the Kid went out in the yard to play. At this time of day on the street, the front yard was great for children to meet. Mom called out, “Have fun!” The Kid said, “Thanks, Mom!” And proceeded to play. That's when the Kid saw one friend "Fox" flying a kite. The kid ran up to his friend, Fox, and asked, "Can I try to fly your kite?" "Sure!" Fox said with delight. The leaves swirled through the gardens on the street, mirroring the excitement that was swirling through the Kid's mind! Wind got stronger and the Kid tugged a little too hard, and whoosh —the kite zoomed, dipped, and bonked Mr. Jack’ hat right off his head! The kite continued its adventure and before the Kid could reach it, the kite was heading toward a bird. The bird was fast enough and caught a lift on the kite, now surfing the skies. That's when the Kid realized the bird wasn't trapped at all, it was having the ride of its life and chirping happily as the kite carried it over the rooftops!
