Dear Friends of the heart, After a good deal of reflection, I am feeling guided to return to teaching and sharing The Way of Mastery. This pathway has been part of my life for more than three decades. I have studied it, practiced it, taught it, traveled with it, wrestled with it, and been profoundly changed by it. There have also been periods when I needed to step away and reconsider what my own relationship with the work was going to be. What has become increasingly clear to me is that the teachings themselves remain extraordinarily important to me, and more importantly, feel directed by Jeshua now to return to active teaching. One of the central qualities I want the School to embody is unity. You are welcome here wherever you first encountered The Way of Mastery — through the Shanti Christo Foundation, through Jayem/JM, through one of the books, through a teacher, retreat, recording, friend, or somewhere else entirely. I especially welcome all those friends who have been part of WOM study groups, retreats, pilgrimages, gatherings, and the many different expressions of this pathway over the years. My hope is that the School becomes a heart-centered space for gathering, community, connection, study, practice, and transformation. The Way of Mastery has touched people through many different doors, and I would love this to be a place where those streams of experience can come together in a spirit of openness, respect, and shared devotion to the teachings themselves. Membership here will remain free, and I will gradually begin adding useful WOM materials, historical context, teachings, practices, discussion, and other resources for anyone who wants to explore the pathway more deeply. I am also going to begin offering six-week live teaching series, each centered around a particular theme within The Way of Mastery. Rather than creating enormous courses all at once, I want these to be living experiences: teaching together, asking questions, practicing, exploring the material, and allowing each theme to unfold over six weeks.

A Central Key to Meeting the World Through The Way of Mastery David Waterman Schock September 2026 One of the most important teachings in The Way of Mastery is also one of the easiest to misunderstand: all events are neutral. Taken casually, the statement can sound as though events are meaningless, random, or spiritually irrelevant. Yet elsewhere throughout the teaching Jeshua says, with equal force, that nothing arises by accident, that the Holy Spirit has already created the exact circumstances needed for awakening, and that every experience can function as a stepping-stone toward the realization of Christ. These statements can seem contradictory only if the word neutral is taken in its ordinary sense. In The Way of Mastery, neutrality does not mean purposelessness. It means that an event has no inherent power to determine the state of consciousness in which it will be experienced. At the same time, the event may be exquisitely fitted to the mind that encounters it and perfectly usable within the larger movement of awakening. Neutral does not mean random. That distinction opens a way to understand the relationship among several central teachings that otherwise can appear difficult to reconcile: the neutrality of events, the creative power of mind, the non-accidental nature of experience, the Holy Spirit's use of time, the oneness of reality, and the equally important distinction between the Creator and the created. 1. What "Neutral" Means The clearest statements in the corpus are unequivocal. Jeshua teaches that experience is not caused by what arises in awareness. Rather, experience is generated through the meaning and reaction brought to what has arisen. This is why he can say that all events are neutral while also insisting that thoughts are not neutral. "Your experience is never caused by what arises in your field of awareness... your experience is how you have chosen to react in the emotional and mental field, to a neutral event that has arisen. All events are neutral. The reaction to them is what generates experience."

A Working Glossary for Reading the Teachings on Causality, Neutrality, Oneness, and Awakening Purpose. The Way of Mastery uses a number of familiar words in unusually precise ways. Confusion can arise when ordinary meanings are imported into terms such as neutral, creation, Creator, world, cause, purpose, and oneness. This document offers a compact set of working definitions drawn from the teachings themselves, especially The Way of the Heart and the Early Years material. Three orienting distinctions. Neutral does not mean random. Purposeful does not mean causally coercive. “You create your experience” does not mean that the separate ego is the ultimate Creator of Reality. Neutral / Neutral Event An event is neutral because it does not possess the power to determine the state of consciousness in which it will be experienced. Neutrality does not mean that nothing happened, that consequences are unreal within the dream, or that all actions are morally interchangeable. It means that the event itself cannot compel fear, grievance, peace, forgiveness, or love. Meaning and experience arise through mind’s interpretation and response. This is why the teaching can say that “all events are neutral” while also insisting that thoughts and choices matter enormously. Primary textual anchor: The Way of the Heart describes an enlightened creator as knowing that “all events are neutral,” while continuing to act, listen, choose, and create in devotion to the Source that created him or her. Experience Experience is not simply the external event. In WOM, experience is what arises as consciousness meets, interprets, values, and responds to what appears. Two people can encounter the same form and have radically different experiences because the event does not carry a compulsory inner meaning. This preserves freedom at the point of encounter. Working distinction: event = what appears; experience = the lived state generated as mind meets what appears. Cause and Effect WOM places causal emphasis in mind rather than in external circumstance. Thought, valuation, perception, desire, judgment, forgiveness, and choice are treated as causally potent. Events are often described as effects, reflections, or returns.

My connection with SKOOL began with a wonderful site, titled "Being the Way of Mastery." As a long-time WOM teacher myself, i was particularly happy to see the format they introduced. This is a Way of Mastery study site with multiple groups practicing the Way of the Heart and subsequent courses, the Way of Transformation and Knowing, as they were originally studied and recommended, one month at a time. That is the ideal way to follow the formal teachings, and they have a dedicated space for students to do just that. This site (here) is not focused on doing the formal lessons, but is instead a support community for those who are just getting to know WOM, those doing the lessons, and for those who have completed them. We cover general topics in WOM, the later Living Practices, and more, in weekly gatherings, and courses, as well as offering extensive student resources..
