My first baby loaf. I halved the recipe because there’s only two of us. I didn’t get the rise I needed and I could’ve used a little more salt. It is honestly better than I thought it was going to be though. Proud of myself!
Day 3: Make One Small Space
Bread may need space in different places: - Schedule space: A small time on your calendar to learn, watch a lesson, read a recipe, or feed your starter. - Learning space: Permission to understand one next thing before you try it. - Physical space: One visible, easy-to-reach place for a bowl, starter, flour, loaf pan, or small basket. Which space do you need to make right now? Finish this sentence: “The space I need to make for bread right now is ______________________ .” Then take one tiny step. Comment “done,” share a photo if you made a physical space, or tell us which space you are making today. You are not trying to create the perfect setup. You are making room for the next step. Your steps 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 3 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Create one small bread cue in your home 6. Comment below with what you chose or simply write "Done" Optional: Share a photo of your little bread space.

Making space in my kitchen today for my very first loaf. Fed my starter and said a little thank you to it for giving me a portion of it itself for the bread. We’ll see how the rise goes.
Make Room To Try Day 2: Release One “Have To”
Maybe you have been telling yourself you need more time, more tools, a cleaner kitchen, a calmer schedule, or more confidence before you can begin. Today, choose one expectation to release. You do not need everything figured out. You only need one workable next step. Your steps 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 2 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Comment below with what you are releasing—or simply write Done If you want to share: I am releasing the idea that I need ________________ before I begin. If you already let go of an expectation, share what it was and how it is different than you expected.

I am releasing the idea that I need to be scared of the process and that I’m not going to be good at it. The thing I learned from Sandra in her recent Osseo Community Ed class is that perfection isn’t required. I’m going to be Zen about this and focus on the experience and learning from my ingredients and environment.
Welcome to Day 1: Choose Your Reason
Day 1: Why does bread matter to you? Before we begin, take a moment to think about why you want bread to be part of your home. Maybe it is warm bread with dinner. Maybe it is learning a skill. Maybe it is feeding your family in a meaningful way. Your reason does not have to be big—it just has to be yours. Your steps: 1. Go to Classroom 2. Open Make Room To Try 3. Watch the Day 1 video 4. Download and complete the worksheet 5. Comment below with your reason—or simply write "Done" Complete this sentence if you would like to share: "Making bread at home matters to me because ______________________ ."

Making bread at home matters to me because time making bread means time away from a device or some other an activity that doesn’t really enrich my life in any way. The bread will enrich not only my body, but also my mind and soul.
