🎬 On Cherche Encore Le Soleil — Building a More Intentional Story Arc
With every new BeatsFlyHigh video, I’m trying to raise the standard—not only visually, but in the way every shot contributes to the complete emotional journey. On Cherche Encore Le Soleil follows Malik, a teenager growing up with his mother in a working-class neighbourhood of Marseille. Although surrounded by Mediterranean sunshine, his daily life is shaped by poverty, social inequality and an uncertain future. He dreams of football, the legendary Vélodrome and a better life. But caught between the luxury displayed on social media and the reality of his neighbourhood, Malik discovers how quickly childhood can be replaced by adult worries. The song could hardly arrive at a more relevant moment. Looking at the difficult situations and growing social tensions we currently face across Europe—and particularly in Marseille—Malik’s story feels painfully close to reality. For this project, I tried to incorporate the valuable advice I’ve received here: mapping out the complete story before generating, giving every scene a clear narrative purpose, improving character and location continuity, and being much more selective about which shots make the final edit. I’m still learning and there is undoubtedly a long way to go, but I genuinely believe this is one of my strongest visual stories so far. Sometimes the sun shines on your city, but you still have to search for the light in your life. ☀️ I would really value your honest professional feedback—particularly regarding the story arc, character continuity, pacing and emotional progression. Which scenes strengthened the story, and where could the filmmaking still be pushed further? DJ CFLY | BeatsFlyHigh Sound – Emotion – Discovery

@Paul Despins Thank you very much for taking the time to give such detailed and constructive feedback. This is exactly the kind of critique I hoped to receive here. You’re absolutely right: Malik’s struggle was clear in my mind and expressed through the lyrics, but the visuals should have communicated that central conflict more strongly without depending on the viewer understanding French. That distinction between illustrating lyrics and building an emotional narrative is a very valuable lesson. I’ll definitely study both references you shared and carry this insight into the next video. Still a long way to go, but feedback like this genuinely helps me move forward. Million thanks! 🙏🎬

I told Claude Code to make a movie. Then I went and got a coffee.
Okay so this one started as a dumb idea in my head. I was thinking... what if the President of the United States gets on TV to announce the end of the world. Super serious. Flags. Podium. Slow push-in. And she just CAN'T stop doing YouTuber stuff. "Like and subscribe." "Smash that bell." "This apocalypse is brought to you by..." That's it. That's the whole gag. I threw it in my Notion and forgot about it. Then today I was playing with Claude Code + Higgsfield and Sean Rubin - my partner in the making of the Claude Code module - (they just put out a CLI so Claude can drive it directly) and Sean thought... let's see how far this thing can actually go. So we asked Claude to pull the idea from my Notion and turn it into an outline. Beat by beat. Where every "like and subscribe" lands. How it escalates. Then I gave it ONE prompt. Here it is, word for word: --- Gag on Notion: This one is a quickie and it's basically someone very important in the world. Maybe the president of the United States is announcing something horrible, like the end of the world type of event or something, uh, or he's going to launch a war against someone or a country, whatever. And then he keeps interrupting his speech. by asking people to like and subscribe. Just a flash gag like that, I think that would be funny. Plus some instructions: "It's all good, just make sure that the president doesn't look like a real president of past or present. Let's make her a middle age Indian woman. Make the video generations in Higgsfield and cut the video on Cutroom. 1080p landscape and color graded as a TV look." --- That's it. That was the whole prompt. (Side note: Cutroom is my own video editor. I had Claude Code build it for me earlier today because I didn't feel like paying for another editing subscription. Yeah. That's where we're at now.) Here's what Claude did on its own after that prompt: - Designed a fictional president from scratch so she doesn't look like any real politician - Generated the stills in GPT Image 2.5 (wide shot, close-up, the bell, the sponsor box)
I told Claude Code to make a movie. Then I went and got a coffee.

Really nice video, Alex! I love how you move from the serious announcement to the commercial messages—the transition works brilliantly, and the overall quality is outstanding. What strikes me most is that you managed to automate the entire process. If you knew how many hours I spend trying to achieve similar shots in my own videos… I clearly need to explore this workflow more deeply. Thanks a lot for sharing, Alex. Really inspiring work! 👏🎬
🎬 JUST A SIMPLE MAID — TURNING YOUR FEEDBACK INTO A REAL STORY
After sharing my music videos here, I received extremely valuable advice about story structure, continuity, recurring visual elements, character consistency and making every shot serve the same emotional arc. That feedback made me want to take a bigger step. I created FlyHigh Studios (Yes I know the name is ambitious 😉) as a new branch of the BeatsFlyHigh universe and began developing my first AI-assisted mini-drama series: Just a Simple Maid. It is a complete story told across 10 short episodes. Instead of creating a sequence of attractive individual shots, I wanted to build recurring characters, emotional progression and real conflict. I also deliberately designed every episode to end on a cliffhanger—hopefully giving viewers a reason to continue to the next chapter. Before generating the scenes, I mapped out the wider storyline and tried to incorporate as many of the valuable tips I received here as possible. I also made all the music of the series myself as my main hobby is making music. Episode 1 is only the beginning of my learning process, and I know there is still a long road ahead. Character and wardrobe consistency, dialogue, pacing, camera choices and emotional continuity all remain challenging—but this project gives me a practical way to improve with every episode. The first audience response has been very encouraging: Episode 1 reached 1.4K views on YouTube in just one day. It seems we may have done something right, but the goal is to keep learning and make every new episode stronger. I would genuinely value your professional feedback: • Does the opening hook you quickly enough? • Is the story immediately clear? • Do the pacing and visual continuity work? • Does the cliffhanger make you want to watch Episode 2? Thank you again to everyone who has shared constructive advice. This first episode exists partly because your feedback encouraged me to move beyond beautiful images and start thinking more seriously like a storyteller. Christophe (DJ CFLY)

@Gabriel Brien Thank you so much! Hearing you call this a step forward genuinely means a lot, especially because I tried to apply the valuable feedback I received here about story structure, continuity and making every shot serve the same narrative. I’m very happy that the story is clear and that the cliffhanger works—that was one of my main objectives for this 10-episode series. Your points about allowing emotional moments to breathe and paying closer attention to character expressions are absolutely right. Those are two important areas I will keep working on as the series develops. One challenge I’m encountering is that the AI tools do not always cooperate. Sometimes I have a very clear image, expression or emotion in mind, but despite several attempts, the tool struggles to produce that exact result. I’m learning how to direct the tools more precisely, when to regenerate, and when a scene needs a completely different approach. It is part of the process—but certainly not an excuse to stop refining the work. Episode 2 continues directly from this moment, so I’m very curious to hear whether you can see further progress there. Thank you again for watching so carefully and helping me move forward. 🙏🎬

@Gabriel Brien Exactly—and that decision also has a very practical side. Every attempt consumes credits, including the generations that fail completely or ignore an important part of the prompt. You can sometimes spend a huge number of credits chasing one specific expression, movement or camera result, without any guarantee that the next generation will be closer to what you imagined. At some point, you have to decide whether to keep paying and pushing or redesign the shot entirely. That balance between creative ambition, technical limitations and production cost is definitely becoming an important part of directing with AI.
