I love elementary shows! My favorites are in more rural towns. Many of those kids don’t have the opportunity to see live performances. They are always appreciative when someone comes to them. I have a show on the joy of reading, and one that focuses on character topics like honesty, doing the right thing, never giving up, and treating others with kindness and compassion.

Great tips! I would add: Don’t be afraid! Just give it a go and have fun.

Ah yes! The “you’re no Jeff Dunham” comments are always there. Things I would like to say: “You’re right! How very observant” “Well you can’t afford Jeff Dunham” “You ought to feel blessed to have any kind of entertainment in your little piddly town” I don’t say those things of course. Next time I think I’ll have my puppet look at me and say “but you told me you were Jeff Dunham….you mean I’ve been working all these years under false pretenses?” I say Be YOU! Put things out that you are proud of, and who cares what others think. And know that for every rude comment, there are many, many more folks who love and appreciate what you do. Unfortunately they typically are not as vocal as those who are negative.

I’m ok with both, but typically prefer the quality of the hand held on a stand to the wireless headset. I can also move in closer or distance myself from it for certain moments in the show.

It is tough! I make sure my sound system is plenty load, and I use it even in small settings. I haven’t had much luck with the belt pack headsets. I like the concept, but they are never load enough to get over an active preschool group. I agree with the lots of water and resting between shows.
