So "many times we have heard the cliché, "go with the flow". It sounds really good but who does it really apply to? When I think of flowing, I think of water and water by its' nature dissipates or disperses. But what contains water? what force opposes water or keeps water in balance? The earth element; where would water be if not for the land beneath it, the river banks to guide it and the mountains to repel it? Conversely, the nature of the earth and mountain has opposing forces. The mountain doesn't "flow" it has static properties and by nature is a container, a barrier, an absorber, a structure. When I ponder this for myself, I realize that sometimes I am water and sometimes I am earth. At times when I feel stuck, I question whether I am really stuck or whether I am just providing some structure for the moment; some grounding. When I am "all over the place" I question whether I am expressing my water element too much or in excess. I suppose being an acupuncturist at an early age helped me to see the dynamic of the elements in respect to healing but as I have gained more experiences I try to apply these principles of nature to the other areas of my life. So, if you're finding that you aren't going with the flow today, perhaps a part of you is realizing it needs some earthiness or grounding and is calling to you to express this nature? or perhaps a part of your water element is stagnant and needs a little earth to move below you to get you to run downhill again (friction between you and a partner business/romantic/family member)? In either case, I find attraction points with other often reveal our nature and flush out things that are dormant in us. I hope today you either go with the flow or stay poised in your position like a mountain!!
